i just bought it, and austin gillette's part made it worthwhile before i'd even seen past the 1st part.  i can't believe how good his part is.

Dude, 3 tricks for A Tim O'connor part is like the equivalent to what fully flared was to MJ. Honestly, I kind of love Tim O'connor's short parts. The tricks he does are always really sick, he just cuts out the bullshit and leaves nothing but meat.

aahahaha come on, I really like tim o'connor, but that was just plain stupid
3 fucking tricks for 3 years, his job its being out there skating

I think the best thing about Habitat videos is they get better after the first few watches.  I wasn't that blown away after first watch, but second, third time...... and I've come to realize how awesome the video is.

How high has the standard of skate vids gotten that people are genuinely bitching about this video?  Definately had solid parts from most the dudes with a few standout amazing parts (Austyn, Silas, Suciu, Guru).  None of the parts were too long, super sick shit from the international guys, I hang off McDermotts nuts pretty hard though.  I'd definately put this on par with Inhabitants, maybe not as good as Mosaic, but that video was insane when it came out.

My only complaint is the lack of footage from alot of the east coast guys, Durante and Davis are so fuckin sick, if they have a tonne of good bonus footy in the dvd, i'd be pissed, they should be gettin a little more recognition, especially Durante after his Inhabitants part.

Austyn interview with a weird ending :

http://espn.go.com/action/skateboarding/blog/_/post/5706790/austyn-gillette-discusses-habitat-origin

"And that kept you on the team?
No. Lasting trips with Fred [Gall] and getting in physical fights with Brennan [Conroy] is what did it. It's weird. I got tortured and I know Silas [Baxter-Neal] got harshed a good amount getting on the team from Stefan Renaud, but the recent additions to the team didn't have to do anything. Marius Sylvanen got on in one night. Daryl Angel got on basically because Stefan Janoski and I don't want to talk about that situation. No one is getting harshed to get on anymore. It's easy nowadays.

At any point during filming, did you get so frustrated watching Silas skate that you wanted to pull a Tonya Harding?
I don't skate with Silas. I don't get along with him too well. He's bitter and I'm not bitter and we don't get along together. We really don't work well together and we've both accepted it. I've seen him skate in person and it's really annoying because he can do anything and he doesn't look like that kind of person. He doesn't look like someone who is even capable of pushing. He does the most incredible tricks I've ever seen in my life. He's probably one of the best out there. He's rad to watch in person.

i can only imagine that is some dry sarcasm as there would be no point in saying you dont get along with so and so when the question is just asking what it's like seeing him skate... you would just say the end bit, "He's probably one of the best out there. He's rad to watch in person"

i thought durante, janoski, gillette and siuci all had really sick sections.

Gillette and Garcia had my favorite parts. Wasn't into some of it, but pretty damn good.

anyone else notice that during Marius, Daryl, and Silas' parts, there's a back 50-50 before a front 180 fakie 5-0 to regular.

Marius' back 50-50 is on the spot Colin Provost front blunts (50-50 isn't anything special)
Daryl's back 50-50 is on the spot Jerry switch (?) front nosegrind to fakies / a McClung kf 50-50s (50-50 isn't anything special)
Silas' back 50-50 is on the spot Marius 5-0's for the cover (50-50 is pretty impressive, but nothing close to his 180 fakie 5-0 revert)

All mediocre (with the exception of Silas') back 50-50's, all pretty insane front 180 fakie 5-0 reverts (again, with the exception of Silas', which isn't real life)

that was boring,i don't know, some gnarly shit went down in this vid but half these little dudes looks the same do the same wear the same were kinda boring.
they don't have the charisma or distinctive style of stefan, garcia or getz, something like a blank feeling.
i had to watch this in two times, the only thing i can remember is durante section, front 180's fackie five o revert and the stefan line from mosaic at flushing....memories.the edit was nothing new and the soundtrack wasn't really good.
i'll give it some rewatch but meh.

finally got to get this.  everyone had such great parts.  but i really like gurus part alot, ive watched that one the most i think, his part in the last video was super good, but i probably watched his part the least then. but his part in this i have watched the most.  stefan and guru will be on repeat for awhile.

what's the deal with footage from their past riders? any pluhowski or renaud in sight?
[close]

I've only watched it once, but it looks as if they just reuse footage from Mosaic
[close]

there's some photosynthesis footy from the original team, appleyard included

anyone know what all is on the dvd? Would be worth $12 just for a clean DVD copy of Wenning in Photo

The montage was pretty cool but there was way too much Raymond Molinar footage from Inhabitants. More of D Garcia's stuff from Mosaic, Appleyard's Photosynthesis, and Tim O from Mosaic would've been better (esp. line at City Hall with the nose manual nollie frontside flip out,sw back 180,nollie varial flip)

The skating was great, but I wasn't feeling the video as a whole. Something about the music and art direction just make the whole thing feel uninteresting. I had the same problem with Inhabitants.

i liked his part a lot too. i also noticed that a few of the dudes have 50-50's as enders (not that there's anything wrong with that.) Bryce, Daryl, Guru and Silas all ended their parts with 50's on rails. i liked the video a lot more the second time around. it does get better with a few views (like a good album that gets better over time.) still think it's weak that some guys didn't really come through and the intro/outro montages felt out out of place. i hope the Toy vid delivers
