Author Topic: Gonz sculpture POLL (Read 2123 times)

I've narrowed it down to these 2. There are a LOT of pics (especially the f/s grabs) that I took into consideration but in the end I felt these two represent The Gonz very well and could be sculpted without the aid of a distracting mounting pole stuck in his butt or something. Whatever is decided upon will be sculpted in the next 30 days and will be on display at the NY Comic Con along with sculpts of Stevie Cab and Cardiel. Thanks alot homies.

agreed. the second is really iconic, but the first would definitely make for a more interesting sculpture.

I like picture number 2 better, but that is because of the location and angle and all the things that go into a photo etc... But I think number 1 would make a sicker sculpture and I can't wait to see the end product.

I vote #1 since you already had Cardiel with the back smith. Three tricks next to each other would look sick.

Number 2 is an awesome picture, but sort of a novelty shot. If you're going to immortalize the man, I think the first one is a better representation.

I usually spend about 120 hours on a sculpt. Previously I was doing these between paying gigs in my spare time. I really want my skate sculpts to represent me well at Comic Con so I'm just gonna devote all of September to the Gonz. I'll post some pics of my other stuff soon. Thanks again. Oh and Natas on the hydrant is definitely in my top 10.

So the boneless wins hands down. I had polls going on a couple other sites and in the end that pic received almost twice the votes as the Alcatraz shot. I've already started the sculpture. thanks

yeah, first.
alcatraz thing- it was an article in thrasher in the mid-80s, shot by bryce kanights. i believe kevin thatcher who was the original editor knew somebody who knew somebody and they got the ok to shoot an article there, which seems nearly impossible. but there were several skate photos of gonz, and that was best one by far.
