Not a new shoe per se but Ripped Laces just posted for the first time since June 2018.

RL was great. Real skate shoe nerd content, but not just coming 100% from a nostalgia place like the guys trading 20 year Axions with each other on instagram. And they wrote reviews that actually gave useful information about how the shoes fit/feel/function. What should be basic product review shit, but is actually really lacking around skate shoes.

Vans already makes this shoe as the Slip-On '47.
Maybe their just making a version that's a wider release that will be more skate-friendly, as the Slip-On '47's now are rarely released or in their DX line.

Both the black and white colorways of the Berle Pro actually look really sick. I wonder why they chose to start with that terrible red/black colorway instead of something neutral like that.

vans love to botch a shoe launch like no other. i'm assuming they are out during holiday season/right after the part comes out. i've been waiting for those two to come out before trying them.

That colorway of some other classic Vans is already on the shelves at discount stores. Saw them at Winners yesterday. Weird.

Vans has a few ok models if the color is right, but god damn they make A LOT of butt ass ugly shoes.

Really confused about the world right now. Who is actually designing all these shitty, ugly shoes, why do they think they're a good idea, and who is confirming to them that they are a good idea? Did kyle walker actually design them shits, and think 'yeah these look good', and the people at vans were like 'fuck yeah kyle you really nailed it with this one'? Or are the vast majority of us really out of touch with what is actually in style at this point?

Consumers seem to be the ones responsible, generalizing of course, as that's what the skaters are buying and what brands have been focusing on and everyone's copying everyone else's copies of copies of silhouettes. It's very sad, I miss the 2000s when shoes had their own personality and brands had more true, unique identities of their own, and it showed in their catalogs, where as now its just "another vulc with slight different deco stitching as the rest...maybe a cupsole but maybe not...very simple vulc...'play it safe' design...MAYBE a pro model...recycled silhouette from over the last few years...done".

I know ill get hate for saying that, but that's just what I see.

I mean you’re not saying anything that other people haven’t said before but you’re not really aligning with the original comment. McBrandt seems to be saying that there are a lot of ugly shoes out that are unique designs and you’re saying that shoes are repetitive and boring nowadays and you miss the unique designs of the early 2000s.
