Basically a hybrid of the Figueroa and Figgy Dose. Similar Figueroa upper, sock liner and of course the Pour-In G6 Foam midsole.

Anyone know why companies stopped running midsoles when the less techy shoes started getting more popular arounf 2004 or whatever?

Does it affect board feel? Maybe it's just cheaper to leave it out.

I remember when full length polyurethane midsoles were the norm in all good quality skate shoes. Can't remember the last time I skated a pair, it's been a long time.

Nah not a dumb question at all but yes the laces are optional on this shoe.

It sure as hell affects the protection from toe jams...

They've always been available just usually less common. I'd have a guess tho that in the early 00s the general fashion shifted back to classic cupsoles or vulcs particularly in the style of classic vans so people weren't really wanting any visible tech features in the soles and if you cant see it why bother making it at all (altho as mentioned many still did) so the trend became more plain basic shoe but some kind of special insole as a selling point.

I’d even take brown on gum soles (like classic Reynolds 1 Emerica) but black soles are just overdone for me.    Just give some options that aren’t that.

Nah I don't like it either. Or brown or black with gum sole shoes with white laces,all white shoes with black laces. Basically almost any time the laces don't match the rest of the shoe. I'm probably also worse tho (altho can usually deal with it) I also don't like when the lining of the shoe is a random colour that doesn't match the side of the shoe either.

gum sole shoes only look good with brown suede for me, and don’t get me started on dual colored soles



the resurgence of contrast colors with shoes has been interesting to see - even if it’s not my personal preference

They don’t look too bad. But for actual skating I don’t understand why the sole is so big in the back, almost like it’s a wedge/heel. I couldn’t skate in those myself. Kinda remind me of an Air Max sole.
