Here comes the flood of sole tech simps…idk about y’all but I value my money I work hard for and I don’t give any company a pass just cause “core” that’s just idiotic. Make something good or just die please.
this post is worse than the shoe
Agreed, as many of the "soletech simps" are even critical of this half assed idea of a shoe. Poster above criticizing soletech fans but ignores that soletech fans are criticizing Emerica as well. 2 braincell energy from Rafael on that post, tbh.
Soletech makes a LOT of great shoes, but this model is tarnishing that reputation because it just ain't it
Point me to the great shoes. Es is just shitty reissues no shops carry and no one seems to skate, Emerica has the same simple variants from one another that they've beaten to death and everything new is wack or bad quality, but I will admit that people really like Etnies and they're the least offensive.
If you're blind, just say so:
There are plenty bad NB#, Nike, Adidas, Vans, and Converse models but somehow they don't get shat on nearly as bad as Soletech? Confusing and unwarranted, to be honest.
Es:
Silo SC, Accel Slim Plus, Swift 1.5, and Quattro are all great shoes. Accel Slim is mid, but plenty of people like it. There are Accel OG fanboys, so that's it's own thing. I don't think they're good in their current iteration, personally.
You can harp that the reissues/re-master/reimagined classics are shitty, but I've skated a few of them and they're solid quality. Silo SC has some of the best flick I've experienced. Quattro is comfy and skates well (skating them right now)
Emerica:
Spanky G6, Wino G6 Slip Vulc, Wino G6 Slip Cup, KSL G6, Gamma G6, Figgy, Figgy G6, and Romero Laced are all solid shoes. Romero being the weakest of all but still loved by many.
Reynolds G6 was a fantastic shoe and that G6 sole is one of the best on the market we got from Emerica It outperforms a majority of the big 3's cupsoles easily. You can't ignore that. If you don't like that sole, just say that instead of passing th sole and all of Emerica off as garbage. You confuse preference with quality and it's annoying.
Most people skating Emerica or trying Emerica are not experiencing the one-off you had with the KSL. Emericas are largely well made and are not bad quality.
Etnies:
Marana Michelin, Joslin 1, Josl1n (remastered one), Joslin 2, Windrow Cup, and Windrow Vulc are all quality shoes. The Michelin cupsole is easily one of the best on the market alongside Emerica G6. Those soles last longer than any other brand's soles and offer good grip/reliable flick. Marana & Joslin are both simple, understated workhorse shoes that perform well for their value.
You can express your taste on design elements in regards to aesthetic, sure. When it comes to performance and overall appeal, Soletech is well liked, well made, and mostly pleasing on the eyes. If you can't see that about Soletech then you're intentionally ignoring/not looking at the gems they do produce
Dude this forum is full of people who have found the eS models you listed to be lacking and have tried them many times. You're just copying all the names you know. eS have many pros who are way too good for the tram and they don't bother rewarding them with pro shoes just poorly executed reissues.
My 2 pairs of winos are the worst quality shoes I've had since skating as an adult. The Spankys look nice and the rest you listed on are the same basic shoe. 2 friends and a poster here had the eyestays on the new Spanky G6 come unstitched in the first week of the shoes life. They reported it as being pretty lackluster although cushioned.
Etnies I'll give you. People are generally pleased with them and they make shoes that last. Not exciting, but they do what they do well and I can respect that.
The forum is not full of people complaining about those es models, unless it's from a purist angle that they didn'tdo a 1:1. That angle is fair, but doesnt equate to the shoe being bad, just because they didn't do a full on 100% reissue. The SC sole is a good sole, pebble magnet or not, just like how the NB# 868 was.
It's been a mixed bag in reviews, just like with LRAB, just like with the Skate line Vans for example. A lot of people like those es models i listed, whether they're on Slap or not. I'm also counting real world examples where I see people skating them, not just Slap accounts of them. I won't disagree that Es is the weakest of the bunch here. They have a higher miss/hit ratio than the other 2.
Again, what has been largely seen beyond your and my anecdotes is Emerica models are mostly well made, including the Wino G6 Slip on you tried. You're also gonna criticize that they're using a few different uppers on the same outsole (because the sole works) and then not keep that same energy towards the Big 3 + when they do that often, too? Make that make sense.
I'm just naming names?? I've been skating for almost 17 years and have skated 95% of the sole tech shoes I just listed. Sure, it's obvious that's what I skate but I wouldn't be skating it, nor saying what I have if the shoes didn't work. I have no interest in receiving boxes, have any ownership, or have any other bias beyond being a skater that's stoked on good shoes after trying hundreds of models over the years. If people don't like them because they didn't work for them, cool. To say they're all mostly poorly made is not factual, however. Same logic for anyone that tries a couple models from Vans, Cons, Nike, etc.
I know some people want me to shut the fuck up and stop derailing this thread, so I invariably will
