Sals look great, although, I hate the contrast white stitching and white outsole on the black pair. Stitching should be black and outsole should be gum.

I wonder at this point how many times the Sala have been re-released.   I remember them coming back in say 2002 but not sure their status before that.

Funny thing about clothing like that is you can't wear it WITH the shoes because that's a bit much and you can't wear it WITHOUT the shoes cause that doesn't make any goddamn sense.

Okay the Etnies Snake is good but they nailed it with this one.


A homie at Etnies told me about this a month or so ago and just sent it over with permission to "leak" it so this is the first official look. Apparently they sent in an original Sal 23 from 1995 to the factory to get it as close to the original as possible. The grip and the logos are all proper. Better than the stubby reissue from 2003. Very hyped on these. Definitely gonna skate a pair of the brown ones.

Might end up doing some archival work for the release so that's how I got the scoop on these ones.

This is what a rerelease should look like. By now Soletech must be the top company for rereleases because of their experience. I know factories change etc... but can´t they make every shoe that close to the og (if they intend to)? These as well as the snakes and raps will look super good in footage, I hope a lot of people will skate them.

Age-old Soletech merchandise catch-22 right there.  That’s when you just go keychain and it kind of implies to the astute observer that you most likely have the sweatshirt AND the shoes at home also

FYI on those Sal 23 reissues (and current fat lace MC Raps), they used a real thin foam insole that does nothing. Guess they gotta cut costs by not using the dense PU level 2 insole (Marana & Joslin use them) that would be far better suited for it.

Good news is that it's not challenging to rip out. It's only lightly glued down in one spot, so easy to swap in an aftermarket insole of your choice after you get it out.

All shoes are handmade, its just one of those things that sounds prestigious, but in reality its how they have to be made.

Ya know, the more I thought about it plus the bit of footage I’ve seen inside shoe factories, I felt a strong “doh” coming on.

Very into this rerelease. I trust that Sal’s got the attention to detail pretty dialed.

Why would you trust that? Apparently every other time they've been re-released, people complain that a shoe in 2008 or 2015 doesn't feel like the vague memory they have of being a kid skating a pair in 1994.

Those look good, new AVE 2 bottom with similar sock upper just actually padded. I liked the bmx slip ons I had a couple years ago. I’d try these for the right price.

They did not seem like they would work for skating imho.

Just by being a bmx shoe I'm guessing they have some kind of shank in the arch to stop your foot from getting focussed on the pedals when you land but if the forefoot can still move they might be workable. Still not ideal but neither were all those early 00s shoes people insist were actually good for skating in.
