Its not enough to just 'make' them. They have reissued a number of prototype styles, and the enigmas, in the past and they almost always look like sh*t in comparison to the originals. In order to do so properly, they would need to hire a designer who actually cares about doing this project correctly, owns original pairs, and understands the nuance of the OG shape and tooling geometry.

Its me. They need to hire me. (although admittedly, I don't specifically own the original NTS or Enigmas yet. But I've been working on acquiring some)

A proper airwalk resurgence would be an expensive project. Unfortunately, I don't think current airwalk has the financial or cultural capital for it to make sense for them.

I would skate an OG spec 540 right now. With no hesitation.

If LRAB would have done the Cm001 as a mid/high top it could have gotten pretty close. I was really hoping for at least an enigma colorway of that shoe...or at least close to it... but no such luck.

Current airwalk is owned by a private equity company who knows they can consistently make profit off of garbage. There’s no motivation to improve the product line. Any decent looking shoe they make is by accident. Some activists with a vision and deep pockets would have to buy the brand for it to actually do something. To much time has passed for it to be nostalgic. While I have a soft spot for it, airwalk has been whack since I’ve been into skating.

I don't know how I feel about a non Airwalk version of the tennis ball Jim shoe. The regular suede Jim shoe was great to skate though.

they look like a converse pro leather, they should make them in leather or suede, shape is really close and this sole is probably better for skating than what they use at converse currently

I randomly spoke with JT maybe a month ago in regards to footwear business stuff. I had never spoken with him before this, so I used it as an opportunity to ask about his time with emerica.

In regards to the 'Century' (JT emerica reissue that never happened) - He said he saw them for the first time at a trade show and was annoyed that they didn't consult with him in regards to reissuing the design.

Its hard to say whether or not he is right or wrong in terms of his position on this. On one hand, that design is forever tied to him whether we like it or not. On the other hand, he doesn't necessarily own the rights to the design. Its a grey area.

The Century shoe wasn't a 1 for 1 reissue to the original JT pro model, which is why this scenario leads us to believe JT was being unreasonable... I 100% understand if MJ or Koston would be annoyed that soletech reissued their pro models without their involvement. They should be getting paid... They helped to design those shoes and those designs have become iconic AF. They helped to make a lot of money for soletech in their heyday, purely due to their endorsement and design contributions.

JT also said he wasn't feeling how the design was reinterpreted - Which I kind of agree with. I think the OG was a better looking shoe, personally. But again - If it was a 1 for 1 reissue it would create more friction between soletech and JT.

Changing the design a bit to hide the fact that it was intended to be a JT reissue (so they wouldn't have to pay him royalties) is a bit slimy on soletechs part...

I also asked him if he planned on doing a JT emerica reissue for Warsaw and he said probably not

Not these, but I've skated plenty of DCs in recent years, primarily Lynx OGs and Zeroes, Shanahans, and Mantecas. DCs just fit my feet well and it's super easy to get crazy discounts on them. They are good shoes, well-made and durable.

As far as I can tell people think DC is lame because of their brand image, creative direction, corporate ownership, and/ or personnel decisions. I don't disagree. I also don't for one second think Nike, New Balance or Adidas are one bit better, so I really don't care which brand I wear as long as the shoes work the way I need them to.

Not these, but I've skated plenty of DCs in recent years, primarily Lynx OGs and Zeroes, Shanahans, and Mantecas. DCs just fit my feet well and it's super easy to get crazy discounts on them. They are good shoes, well-made and durable.

As far as I can tell people think DC is lame because of their brand image, creative direction, corporate ownership, and/ or personnel decisions. I don't disagree. I also don't for one second think Nike, New Balance or Adidas are one bit better, so I really don't care which brand I wear as long as the shoes work the way I need them to.

Since they broke through, DC has always had to balance its mainstream image with their core skate image. IMO their core product has always been good.

Anyway, in recent times I've had multiple pairs of mantecas and they've been great. I can't imagine how they could fuck up that onix shoe.

I just don't think Skate shoe brands do fashion well. Whenever they hit on a trend, I feel like it's a result of making something skaters would want to wear rather than broader market.
