Here are a few boards I have pressed and screen printed. Working on getting 2-3+ color screen prints

What’s the consensus on painting over graphics?

Got an Enjoi with a terrible graphic, I can’t really be fucked sanding the whole bitch down, I was just gonna rough it up with a sanding block and go over with a couple coats of 2X

It often depends on the colours of the graphic, but matt black will often take nicely and cover everything easily enough, then just add wax if you want to slide without a whole lot of the graphic showing through.

Been experimenting with scraping graphics off with a razor blade, rather than sanding and that works really well, but takes a bit of effort if you are not so used to it.  At least the under coat of clear is often still there and I just scrape off the paint on top, not cut into the wood at all and they come up nicely.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I thought this would be good here too, from someone who makes their own boards, along with the other posts below that I put up in the woodshop thread.

Whoa that’s cool!  Really interesting shape.  Square-ish boards look so good.

Also if the Sketch Hitchcock guy on here is Skitch - you are a legend!

I made this cruiser board for my wife to ride.

The original deck was a Krooked 'el camino' shape which I cut down by about 2 inches, using the nose of a fresh deck with the same shape as a guide. Then I made the tail slightly shorter by about 3/16 of an inch, to take off the razor tail. I sanded all the edges and then moved the trucks about 1.5" back.

The original deck was 32.15 inches but the new shape is 30.

My wife painted the graphic on the bottom.

I had some indy 144s lying around from when I used to ride 8" decks so I put those and some new OJ 55mm super juice wheels on it. Super fun. I'll probably end up using it more than my wife but that's the way it goes...
