so how do you judge something like this anyway? by who is the best skateboarder? who is the nicest? who is the funniest? who gives the best hugs? the problem is, its impossible to compare someone like forrest to someone like, mango. totally different styles and attitudes. so basically people just like one guy instead of the other. and everyone esle can argue about whether his wheels grinded the whole way down.

I don't see how doing a staple trick the traditional way to landing with your weight centered is anymore dangerous than doing another staple trick, but floating it the opposite direction it usually goes, and landing off-centered down the same ledge

Fuck that. 360 flipping into anything, especially a twelve stair hubba is way hard. Even if you have them on lock you lose control of the board for so long it's pretty much hit or miss whether you lock into the grind or even get it up onto the ledge in a position to land on it. That said Reuben's trick was way more enjoyable to watch and this argument is still stupid.

No.
Kickflips going the other way can be much easier overcome than tossing a 360 flip into a precise place.  I think a slightly alley oop flippy grinder has nothing on a fast rotating flippy spinny grinder.  Let's just all go out and try them on a small hubba and then have a poll because this is obviously the most important thing in our lives.
Forrest lost the competition - I guess we all know how Whiteley feels.

i liked john's entry video a lot, but he hasn't done anything on par with that in this competition so far. if it weren't for the hill bomb, i don't think he'd really be on anyone's radar right about now.

 rueben doesnt need to win this, hes already shown that he rips so hard and is a good personality, hes guarenteed to get picked up by many sponsers. not to mention he tried to fucking heelflip eltoro, hes going places. Thats not to say his tricks arent good enough to win it, if we wanna base it off tricks then he should win it, hes gotten the way more footage and GOOD shit at 99% of the spots they went to.

 the hillbomb slowed him down if anything, hes fucking gnarly. rememebr the spot with the giant hill into the triple set he was going for it hard. probably wouldnt have done that with staples in his head, although he continues to live on the danger zone

Ha - solely because of this thread I actually tried both of these tricks on a small hubba at a park last night. I didn't make either, but I got a kickflip to front 50 without too much trouble. I think if I woulda tried like a zillion times the 5-0 was definitely a possibility.

Didn't even come close with the tre. Really, doing a tre up anything bigger than a curb seems really hard to me.

So, based on my efforts as a thoroughly average old fart skateboarder who would be terrified even to boardslide the Clipper ledge, I gotta say that Forest gets the gnar award. Both tricks were sick, though.

It's weird seeing people take sides so heavily. Both tricks were crazer, but for different reasons. Tall 360 flip vs. alley-oop kickflip. Different people have different tricks locked. Example, I got 3 flip 50s (on boxes), but can't kickflip into anything frontside to save my life (except nose, but thats different).  Then there are people who have it the opposite way. Arguing about what's more comfortable/easier for two different people is pretty fucking strange.

I'd sure as hell have a better chance of doing the 360 flip 50-50. I can't kickflip into grinds frontside like that on anything bigger than a curb, that shit is hard. It looked 3 times as nice too
