My home gym consists of:
bike on a trainer (essentially a stationary bike)
bench with 165 lbs of free weights
20 lb and 25 lb dumbbells
perfect pullup
perfect pushup
40lb flack jacket weight vest
heart rate monitor
exercise ball

Three times a week a do at minimum
1 hour on the bike with heart rate monitor (target heart rate 145-160)
3 sets of 15 pushups with 40 lb flack jacket
3 sets of 30 ball sit ups
4 sets of 5 pullups

from there I do various free weight exercises.  I need to do more deadlifts and squats.  Also, if I feel like it, I go to workout at the base gym.

Cthulhu!

2-3 days per week athletic training : bodyweight/plyo/core strength stuff...
2 days a week weights
1-2 days a week yoga
1-2 days a week ball hockey
1-2 days a week skate/skim/snowboard, I probably skate the most.....

I'm skinny as hell so I don't really need to excercise but I like it.....I think if I wasn't in decent shape I wouldn't be skating anymore.

I was never athletic at all growing up which is why I probably ended up skating.....

*bro alert*

I work in a welding shop so, keeping somewhat fit is a must. Seen scrawny dudes try and weld....never works out. I used to jog a lot. Not quite sure why I stopped. I can genuinely tell the difference when I skate. I'm already tired 15 minutes into the session. I have problems with insomnia on occasion so late night works out truly help. I suppose it's best to work a different muscle every time you work out.

skating is the best workout, you work all the muscles you use while skating because you're skating.  I played basketball for awhile and thought it would help out but it did the opposite.  Excercising in general is good i am not against it.

EDIT:  it should be noted that in the burrprint two by gucci mane, gucci mane states "i ain't done pushups and im still looking good as a muthafucka"

This means that working out is no longer mandatory for "killing it" at life.

I went from a fatass 208lbs. to a lean 168 in 5 months, despite an over-30 metabolism, and while simultaneously boosting my 1 rep max in bench press from around 145 to 215.

I've streamlined my workout into two days:

day 1: standing overhead press (clean from floor), bench press, incline press, deadlift

day 2: wide-grip pullups, medium-grip pullups, standing barbell curl, standing alternating dumbbell curl

Reps of 5, never to failure, as per the advice of strength trainer Pavel Tsatouline.

As for diet, still sticking to raw fruits, but cottage cheese and lean fish & poultry are good protein sources. Definitely steer clear of cooked grains (rice, wheat, pasta, etc.) and keep the daily cals under 2000 and you'll see the fat go bye-bye quick.

I think muscles should be functional and non bulky.

I would start distance running, but I fucking cannot commit to that shit long enough to even begin to see any improvement in anything. Although I did sleep better at night whenever I ran.

And I always had to wake up before sunrise to get a run in, because frankly, I'm really self-conscious about that shit. Don't want other humans to laugh at my bad form and my panting/wheezing/cramping.

I've thought of just blowing a shitload of money on frivolous running gear to force myself to use it, but that could very well backfire and I'd be out of $$$.

It's winter guys! Let's just pile out and gorge for a few months, leave the regret for later!

don't be a pussy and lift heavy weights

squats, deadlifts, and presses are your main lifts

eat natural foods

shit sucks; especially when weights get real fucking heavy (which they do), and you can't eat a delicious ass cheeseburger cuz even thinking about makes you wanna throw up

it's always worth it though, henry rollins does it...just sayin...

I love deadlifts, it's kinda weird that nobody seems to do heavy compounds. People are always impressed when you are lifting heavy, but somehow they think that a 1000 sets of curls and situps is gonna make then look good.
I still hate gyms, but I don't have enough space to build a homegym, sucks.

Skating with a sprained ankle + lots of snow is kinda hard. And why do some sk8rzz bitch when somebody does more sports than just skating?

Going to a gym is not a "sport." It's something inactive and uncreative people do to stay fit. I'm down with staying fit, I just do it other ways. I skate, I swim in the ocean, I go on hikes and climb around. If I end up more muscular or less fat, its a nice side effect of living an active life style.
Going to a gym is a pathetic and uncreative way of pretending that you actually live an active lifestyle.

This is the "If you don't make eye contact it's not gay" version of Dallas' thread.
Exactly.

And to the guy who said he goes to the gym because he doesn't skate anymore, you are the point that I am proving.  I don't have anything against people who never skated in the first place, but I've said it before, I can not relate to people who used to skate and quit. Those are the most pathetic humans on earth. They have found perfection, and turned away from it.

Hey, for me it supplements another sport ;) And sure, it's not as 'creative' as skating, but why the fuck should everything be as creative is possible as possible? I'm not trying to be some hip artsy guy, I love skating, but also love lifting heavy stuff, what's wrong with that?

Nothing. I hate how the only things that are "accepted" outside of skating is doing gay shit that either has to do with art or nature. I mean going hiking or climbing is cool, but you can't look down on someone because they don't want to do that shit.

It's not a sport. I'm not saying what you do has to involve being creative, I am saying that fitness should be a reflection of an active lifestyle, not a gym membership. Cool people have other goals and have fitness as a nice side effect. Losers buy gym memberships so they can get muscular for the purpose of their own vanity. I find vanity off-putting.

Let's stop talking about the gym bros, what about the Tan and laundry part? Gotta look fresh for the clubs down in Oceanside, NJ, right?

Those are the most pathetic humans on earth. They have found perfection, and turned away from it.

several people have mentioned jogging, yogga, biking, home gyms, medicine balls, etc... not everyone lives in SF where it's a beautiful city with 70 degree weather or have the room for home gyms. just having a shower at my work changed the options i have for fitness a ton. also not everyone can stay fit with just skating, i know if i could i would't mess with anything else but for me any workout that is fun generally doesn't get the kind of results i need to stay as lean as i like to be. not everyone who works out is a bro and even though bro's have their issues i think there is something to respect in the amount of dedication that it takes to get in good shape regardless of if that's your thing or not. juice heads are cheating and that's always lame but anyone that is doing that shit natural is putting a lot of effort into not being a fat pile of shit.

and as far as guys who work in offices not needing to have any muscle on them, that's just rediculous. my wife and i both find toned physique attractive, why not put in a little work to keep things interesting in your marrage? my marrage is doing pretty good these days so maybe it's not such a bad idea to keep things interesting for your partner by taking care of yourself and fitness is one of the many areas where you can do that.

Still don't agree. I'm not the type of person that's look to reach Arnold's size...I don't desire that. I work out for being healthy, both mentally and psychically. I was getting girls left and right before I started working out, so it wasn't solely for looks. I like developing muscle, I've been fascinated with the human body as a child. And my exercise wouldn't be restricted to a gym, but not everyone has the access to oceans, mountains, etc. And who said being active can't involve a gym? People have their own views.
Even if you don't aspire for Arnold's size, the mere fact of working out just to look good at a gym is vain. And you don't need mountains or an Ocean to stay fit. Go do something. Adults all act as if they are too cool for all sports but working out at a gym. Its fucking pathetic.
Also, kids don't want to work out in gyms or healthclubs. When they want to be active, they play sports, they ride their bikes around the neighborhood, they have snowball fights. Suddenly, puberty comes along, and people want to go to the gym. Tell me that its just a coincidence that nobody gives a fuck about working out like that until they notice the opposite sex. I want to see how far you will take your defense of such an obviously meathead attitude.

But whatever bros, if you are all about the GTL before the club, do your thing fancy boys. Oh, and stop making fun of poor Dallas. He obviously is just a more successful version of the gym bros in here.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
