I used to do that except I'd stick a tail grab on the end of it and turn it into a benihana.  How many faux pa's is that?  To be fair I really didn't give a shit 'cause it was good fun, you know, that reason we all started skateboarding in the first place.  Tre bombs are a horrible trend but then so are plaid shirts and steezy ass this and buttery ass that. Trends come and go, get over it.
