West 49 (zumiez of canada) decided to start a board company and get paul machnau to be the TM....and then they got the canadian's who weren't quite "making it" to ride for them
this is pretty much as accurate as it gets, except this is like super super old news. these guys came to MY town in Waterloo ontario and did a demo last august and grant was just riding his pro board for the first time. paul trep machnau and chad dickson were all there. machnau didnt sakte, i dont even know if hes the TM he is on the team he had a broken arm. there seems to be this fat guy who is the team manager.
anyway they were selling the redstar boards at my shop for a little bit just to help grant out... but yeah like no one is hyped on redstar boards. the guy at my shop said hopefully now that this fat guy is behind it, apparently he has been doing stuff in skating for a long time, but yes its still a west 49 brand, but there may actually be a change in the quality of the wood as we move into this season. i really doubt it but its entirely possible. Either way, its kind of a win/loss thing because no one is hyped on the brand, no matter how good the boards may end up.
