Good. It's not surprising to me with the way his ratings have been slipping. I hope his new job falls through and he drinks himself to death.

^ Fox lost over 300 sponsors for his show in under a year: check it http://stopbeck.com/dropped-sponsors/
He left so he couldn't be fired when his contract comes up in December. Nobody leaves a cushy and high profile gig like that unless they have to, there really is no higher platform for a conservative nutcase.

He loses sponsorships, but he brings in ratings (even during a ratings slump his cult members always tune in) so we haven't heard the last of his insane theories or revisionist history... the less ignorance he's able to inflict on the gullible the better, but his operation has always been apart from Fox (his studio is separate, web presence is relatively independent from News Corp, and his radio presence goes back for ages).

It would be great if he'd board himself up in his little crazy fortress and fear the world around him in silence, but I'm thinking this is going to free him up to do more rather than keep him out of the media.

The only thing ratings are good for is to gain high priced sponsors, when you can't hold onto them, ratings don't matter.

I have a feeling when history books talk about the paranoia and extreme right wing propaganda machines, they will talk about Glenn Beck's show, but not in a good way.

I hate Glenn Beck and Fox News, and basically all of the right media.  Glenn Beck gives Mormons a bad name.

I guess my take on it is that the right wing still has a really solid media machine that allows them to make money by preaching to their choir... I mean, Rush Limbaugh says something so fucked up it garners national attention a couple times a year, Coulter has pretty much said the worst shit that can be said in text and on the air, but they keep piling in the money. If Beck is a free agent, we'll keep seeing him- he won't need the advertisers, he'll be able to say his most off the wall shit on his own platform, and he'll be a guest on every Fox show daily.

Keep in mind man, we live in a world where Sarah Palin can be rich simply for being Sarah Palin... I ain't saying it's right!

It's fucking bizarre to me that he has people who listen to him and actually base their opinion of the shit that falls out of his mouth.
I can see how people would believe him. The way he shows his ideas, truth (lol), etc is show on a board, quotes, clips, pictures, etc. If you are uneducated or super closed minded, then I can see someone believing Glenn Beck.

My aunt and grandma follow him religiously. They think he is the greatest person, and they both invested coins, gold, silver, and canned food.  They got upset when I was watching the Daily Show and John Stewart was doing his impression of Glenn Beck.

His last one (concerning Beck's departure) was fucking amazing... it's in two parts here:
