how long does a set of wheels usually last you?
Are you the type to buy new wheels after you flat spot them, or do you just keep riding em anyways?  Do you skate wheels until they are the size of bearing covers? Wheels usually last for a bit, but ive known  people who buy new sets of wheels for as little as them turning yellow. I usually get new wheels after 2-3 months.

Edit: oops, meant to post this in the shoes and gear section. Muh bad.

no thanks

2-4 months.  Once they either wear down to be really small or the flatspots are intolerable and it sounds like dadadaddadadaddadadada

I just know never to buy spitfire big heads because those turned into bearing covers in like 3 or 4 weeks

Haven't gone through a set in 2 years of using them, although I am miserable at skateboarding, not too many powerslides etc.

same here, and my only excuse its laziness, even when I have the money to buy a new set (and bearings too) I rather buy a new board and start pushing a little more.
I have to accept that its already annoying, but I know Im not going to change them tomorrow or next week...probably next month...dunno

do you guys who go through several sets of wheels a year forget to rotate your wheels? I mean , I'm not skating 35 hours a week but my wheels usually last me 8-12 months. they also get rotated 3-4 times within their lifespan.

i've been hearing bones are the shit, never had bad wheels before but I think I'm gonna try em out next and see what the hype is all about/

I respect those of you who skate your wheels for 8 months - 1 year.  Most of the time people dont buy new wheels cause they actually "need" new ones, its more that they just want new ones.

As soon as I flat spot them which could be as long as a month or as soon as a day. I try to do a few slides to even them out but they always get worse. I am of means so it's no big deal and any kid I come across is more than appreciative of wheels in better shape than theirs.

I stopped doing it cause normally your axle gets fucked up while you skate (I also change trucks like every 2-3 years....but the ones Im using are 4 years old already) and then you can't put the wheels on, a total mess, so I gave up and skate them till one its really small others are 6-7 mm bigger

Maybe 6 months even though I skate 54-56mm wheels, I do a lot of lipslides.  Sometimes, my wheels get flatspotted, but even weirder is when they get oblong.  They wear out unevenly to where they are no longer round.  Since I'm older, if I flatspot wheels, I'll give them up as a lost cause.  I don't have time to waste hoping they'll even out.  Shit, I'll give a kid an old set of wheels from my car if their wheels are so flatspotted that they're distracting me.

Mine usually last a year, but I rotate them.  If they get a bad flatspot then I get rid of them.

really depends, as of the past two years i got brand new set to start off with in april, those lasted till july then i get a new set, which last me till april. i don't skate too much in the winter due to the cold, snow covered spots, and a heavier school and work schedule. the only exception i can see is if i get a set of wheels that i'm not happy with. However, as long as i stick to spitfire street burners or bones stf they should hold out

I always switch wheels and bearings at the same time, so maybe every 3 months

used to skate 53 or 54s and would skate them until they got a bad flatspot or got down to 50s.
just set up some 56s.

I remember in a thread a while back where you "reviewed" a shoe.  You said you blew them out and they looked like they just came of the box.

i try to skate them till theyre simply too small (43mm or so) but normally i have some weird shit happen before then, like have one or 2 of my wheels shredded up by broken glass or magically split into 2 pieces

I go through skate goods quick (shoes, wheels, etc..), i just give them away afterwards or leave them at a spot/park. Only thing that stays with me for a while are trucks. Even with those, i change them every 4-5 months. No hassle in breaking them in when you put bones medium bushings.

I buy 53mm's then skate them till they are ~45mm.
My last set of wheels were 53mm spitfire classics, they wore really fast. Somehow I regret buying them. Now I'm skating a set of blank wheels and I can't say nothing bad about them. Definitely not buying branded wheels again.

New wheels last usually a month or two, but I've had these bones STFs for over six months - they are so sick!
