Did they ever give a reason for Jaqen being in Westeros in the the first place?

Nah, which is why the actor (among others) thinks Jaqen's motives are more than just recruiting another assassin.

i'm a little bit late, but here goes. the battle was epic, very realistic with all the death and so on. but still, jon survived incredible odds and then even risked his head against a bunch of arrows. I'm 100% sure that GRRM will write this differently (if the battle even happens in the books), I'm just curious how

also the knights of the vale entry was timed perfectly, which also reeks (hehe) of holywood. not a whole lot of tragedy in this ep. - rickon was made expendable in the show

Rickon's pretty expendable in the books too: We don't know much about him and even if he died, Bran could potentially be the last remaining true male Stark heir. I usually forgive GOT for any forays into the cliche like with those last-minute battle saves, it's done enough shocking to warrant it in my view.

Dammit! I thought there was only one season to go and that it would conclude in season 7.

This shit will end up so drawn out. I no the answer to my question is money, but why do they have to drag all the best shows out until they are a shadow of themselves

I dont think its fair to call them out on milking it . I mean 6 seasons so far and theres gonna be 7 books right ? . 10 eps per season so its kind of a tight schedule . Its not like the show is following 1 or 2 persons only , theres maybe more then 10 multiple story lines

I dont really think the show has lost the quality either . Might be some bad episodes here and there but overall very good

are you fucking kidding me? the books are so thick that you'd need 25+ hour seasons to cover it all.

If you took out all of the descriptions about food, the first few books would be half as thick.

Pare down some of the graphic descriptions of all the fuckin' and you've got yourself a novella.

Don't forget vivid, photographic descriptions of small inns and taverns no relevant characters have ever been to.

Agreed. After the heavy episode last week and this being the season finale, I thought they were going to leave us with a huge cliffhanger... Stoked on this episode.

really digging cersei dark queen vibe. be curious to see how things go with her and jayme. i so in the post show break down how they were saying that her kids were the only thing that was keeping her from being completely evil and unrelatable. now that they are all dead, gonna be crazy.

also really dug the king of the north scene. gotta be nerve racking proposition and like the cross tension with little finger there. you know they are going to have a repeated attempted red wedding.

arya finally coming out as the bad ass stealth assassin was also rad. curious how she got a face, wonder if that means she's still working with the nameless bunch.

That's one way to trim the casting budget.

Also, Lyanna Mormont is probably the best character ever.

Hell of an episode. Love the Walder Frey assassination, and the fact that the writers followed up on the Rat Cook foreshadowing from this scene:

What's the deal on future seasons? Last page says they might go to 10 seasons but my wife just showed me something where the showrunners are saying 13ish more episodes in two truncated seasons. What's up?

Both sound like bad options.

^13 episodes over the next two years makes sense since there's a hard definitive ending. They want to maximize their budget allocation per episode cause you can be sure those 13 episodes are going to be packed with epic shit in terms of battles and effects.

Got around to watching the finale earlier today. Neat and tidy settling of accounts and new battle lines being drawn amongst all the groups.

Lannisters are trapped into fighting a two front war now with the Targaryen invasion force in the south (assuming this is where they touch ground to meet up with the High Garden/Dorne alliance) and the newly "unified" north (although they're also the front line against the coming white walker invasion and will be hit hardest in the winter).

Lots to look forward to

The Targaryens are pretty big on inter-marrying.

I'm really hoping they decide to introduce my favorite character next season. How bad ass would it be if before Dany and them get to westerosi they're met on the ocean by Victarion who is aiding Euron. Just a giant battle at sea. I really wish they went more into the horns in the show and how the dragons refuse to obey her.

How okay with inter-fucking the Targaryens are is what Cersei used to use to tell herself it was fine to fuck her brother. Then she just was like "I like fucking my brother that's good enough for me." And Danaerys is Jon's Aunt, not cousin. Not that it would matter between the sheets. I wonder if there'll be any sort of proof of Jon's parentage, like documentation that would make Danaerys put her claim aside. Rhaegar was the heir, and Jon is his heir, so Danaerys shouldn't even be in consideration outside of her waging a war of conquest.
