Is targeted assassination a viable way to kill politicians and billionaires? Is it worth throwing away your life?
[close]
I mean, Gavrilo Princip would have just been another forgotten nobody but he was in the right place at the right time and forever changed the course of world.
[close]
I was thinking more along the lines of preventing and ending wars, but yeah, I concede I can’t predict the future.
[close]

Who were you thinking about?
[close]
This is silly but I’ve always had this idea of a movie/series where the protagonist hit real world assets or approximations of those assets while maintaining her secret identity. Basically a real gritty spy/antihero story. I know fucking Black Widow already exists but I want specific details and plot points to be very different and with as many realistic consequences as possible while keeping the story alive. I don’t know how believable it would be for one person to kill crime bosses, dictators, warlords, billionaires, and influencers, but let’s assume the protagonist has some sort of power on top of insane skills. This movie is dumb total fantasy fulfillment.

I don’t think I should name real world names here.

1a. Will YouTube eventually allow viewers to like and/or dislike segments of a video rather than like or dislike a video in its entirety?

1b. Does viewers' inability to more clearly indicate what they like/dislike exacerbate the divide between the right and left in America as it reinforces reductionist thinking practices?

2a. Exactly how much further can an individual spurt if they adhere to a rigorous Kegel regiment over a 3 month period?

2b. Is there a "cross-fit" version of Kegels?

You know, one of the only good things about having a senile elderly relative is that you can plan their own surprise parties with them.

What my dog's family was like. We never got to meet any of them. It's kinda crazy how you can have a pet that goes most of its life totally cut off from any of its relatives.

If I was building out the community for a Noah’s Ark style craft in the 90s or 00’s, Bob Burnquist would’ve been an easy human selection.  Handsome (to say the least), speaks English as his second language with no accent, and an argument can be made he’s the greatest skateboarder of all time.

Odds are the people on the Titanic sub are having an orgy because if you’re gonna die, you might as well go out with a gangbang.

Such a gnarly scenario.

Saw photos of the 3rd party Madcatz style Xbox controller they use to pilot the craft.

And heard, not sure it’s true, that there’s audio in the cabin looping My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion, and that the pilot might have sedated the other passengers to ration their oxygen longer.

The naming of Go Skate Day. It sounds like a command and I have a tendency to resist when people tell me what to do. They should have called it something else like Skateboarding Day or How About We Go for a Skate Day? or Day on Which It Is Highly Suggested You Go Skate.

Has the fist bump completely displaced the handshake as the preferred casual greeting?  Went to shake someone’s hand today and they reacted like I tried to fondle their genitals.

I kinda hope so altho no contact at all would be more optimal. When I'm meeting someone sure go for a handshake but couple years ago it was at a point where I was shaking like 40 people's hands everytime I went skating or got a beer etc. Turn up at a park can't just say hey and start skating but have to shake everyone's hand then some other crew turns up and now have to shake all their hands then all over again when I'm leaving. One good thing about covid is it replaced all this with a thumbs up in the general direction of a group of people. (For a short while)

When Person A says “I agree with you 110%” to Person B, doesn’t that mean that they are somehow  agreeing so hard with Person B’s argument that it supersedes their agreement by 10%?

…So they are disagreeing by that extra 10% because   Person A can only agree 100% with their argument.

So couldn’t you make the argument that they are only in 90% agreement?

Does that make any sense to anyone?  What, anonymous internet person, do you think about that?  ???

Why do people want to see my new apartment? It's a 1 bedroom. That means all that same shit you've previously seen is just now in a different space. Why are you trying to invite yourself over?

Nothing at all against someone being hyped to show a new place to friends but it's just strange when it's reversed

Not trying to be annoying but were any of these people trying to invite themselves over potentially romantically interested?  I’m so aloof I haven’t even realized someone was trying to make inroads in the past, if you know what I mean.  If not, my bad.  I agree it sounds invasive/nosy but it probably means, even if on a friendly level, they like you.

Is the DVD version of Klein and Kirchart's part from the End online anywhere? I'm curious what it's like with the Tom Petty song instead of Under Pressure.

In a few years, will summers be my enemy? Will it be to hot to even think about going skating? Will I sitt inside the whole day and wait till it's evening.. Getting old sucks already. But getting old and skate on a hot afternoon is a thing from the past i guess.

Yes.
Just let Australia be the canary in the coal mine. It gets stupid hot and has the smoke for months but people still skate. You just have to be smart about it, bring extra water, be purposeful in your session (think about what you want to do before you get there, don't just stand in the sun getting cooked like a moron) find shade to rest in etc.
It's just the inverse of places that get really cold, I'm sure there's people who are like oh it's not too much snow I can still have a session

When my best friend's dad went bankrupt and comitted suicide, her family fell apart and she wound up getting into hard drugs and through that, doing porn. She was 18, on lotsa drugs, and had no one looking out for her. She used to call me fucked up, not even knowing where she was sometimes, saying her life had turned into a nightmare. It made me feel sick to my stomach, there was nothing I could do to help her, and yeah, occasionally it made me cry. Telling you for a friend.

If you break or lose a tv remote a replacement is gonna cost like $50 or maybe you can find a universal remote for $35 but you can get a shitty smartphone for that price. All new TVs now have built in Netflix, YouTube etc but using it sucks because you have to scroll thru menus with just the arrow buttons.
TVs should come with a shitty smartphone as a remote they could even be done cheaply because they don't actually need the phone or camera

The main reason "everything sucks now" is mostly just we have too much stuff. My YouTube autoplayed some clip of Russel Brand and a YouTube dweeb talking about why Hollywood sucks now and it was so fukn stupid. "We don't have superstars anymore it's just characters" well that's a complete load of horseshit we still have like a hundred actors who sell movies just off their names.
"No one makes original movies anymore" again you can go all the way back to the 1950s and they're already remaking shit from the 20s.

Basically until like 35-25 years ago everything was disposable so people didn't worry about things so much. You'd just go to the movies a couple times a year and watch whatever was on tv every now and then and get on with your life. It wasn't until the mid 90s the majority of people had VHS players at home (obvs people still had them earlier but not the majority) and it wasn't until the mid 00s or early 10s people had collections of hundreds of DVDs they can watch at any time. Now that we can just click and watch literally everything ever made so we are just spoilt for choice.

been thinking a lot about the electromagnetic properties of the universe, and how we as humans are energetic and magnetic beings. this concept of "you get what you put in," or, "karma," if you wanna call it that, is a very real thing. although I've always tried to live my best with this in mind, when I connected the two concepts it changed my world and how I interact with myself, my thoughts, and my beliefs. LIFE - I WONDER - WILL IT TAKE ME UNDER?

Just finishing an academic article on nostalgia and can tell you you’re perfectly right. Nostalgia as a widespread phenomenon first became a thing with 1950s sitcoms being played in endless reruns in the 1970s. Availability drives nostalgia.

I'm wondering if the aughts were in fact better than today. Sure diversity didn't exist then, and people were as foolish as ever, but affording food, being housed, and having mental health healthcare are suddenly luxuries in 2023. Where did it all go wrong
