"The Pharmacist" on Netflix.  This all took place pretty much right down the street from me, and I know far too many people effected by the opioid crisis.  really interesting story.

I’m into documentaries about wild stuff but these documentaries are so depressing, I don’t want my brain to go there as I’ve also known and have been affected by the opioid crisis.

Ever watch any Louis Theroux? While some of his shit is heavy, a lot of his earlier stuff is really good, fairly quirky and lighthearted, while still being a good documentary.

His cousin is Justin Theroux. Fun-ish fact.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

His "Weird Weekends" episodes are interesting, thought out, but still lighter in subject. They were on the BBC back in the day. If you can't find any, I'll give them to you. He's got some great heavier shit later on too if you fall into enjoying him. I went on a huge documentary kick. Lots of war docs too.

Yea a doc on opioids was a hard pass for me, I know that story already too well. Miracle I never became a fiend myself considering I’ve been prescribed percs many times from ACL tears.

Thought this had more Michael Pollan in it than it did.

Was pretty alright, I'm no Ryan Reyes but it's cool to think that there's this biological classification we really don't know much about, and that one of our most important medical discoveries (penicillin) came there.

I thoroughly enjoyed this.  Specifically the Repulsion and Napalm Death parts.  Always love Brutal Truth/Dan Lilker but I couldn't care less about the more modern bands.

However, Anal Cunt seriously needs it's own documentary.  I'm very aware of what a piece of shit Seth Putnam was...and these days the whole 'edgelord' thing is beyond lame, but he was a tried and true maniac and the band was hilariously necessary at that time.   He truly didn't give a fuck and not in a 'showmanship' way.

Started 20,0000 days on earth. Never had the chance to get into Nick Cave, but I guess now couldn't hurt.

Dark Days (2000)

Brit director Marc Singer's documentary follows the lives of homeless people who found shelter in disused underground tunnels in Midtown Manhattan.

"One of Us" on Netflix. It follows the lives of a few Hassidic Jews who are trying to leave or have left and it's gnarly.

"1976 film by Mitsuo Yanagimachi

God Speed You! Black Emperor (ゴッド・スピード・ユー! BLACK EMPEROR Goddo Supīdo Yū! Burakku Enperā) is a 1976 Japanese black-and-white 16 mm documentary film by director Mitsuo Yanagimachi, which follows the exploits of young Japanese motorcyclists, the "Black Emperors".

The 1970s in Japan saw the rise of a motorcycling movement called the bōsōzoku, which drew the interest of the media. The movie follows a member of the "Black Emperors" motorcycle club and his interaction with his parents after he gets in trouble with the police.

The Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor took their name from the film."
