I heard skating in nyc is all one big trend (minus dudes killing it underground u dont hear about). kids goto parks skate parks and just the parks, skate the same ledge/rail in the parks and everyone does all the same tricks... goto union square skate flat ground and thats all. i heard all the folks that actually rip it up u dont hear about because they dont want other nyc kids koppn their steez or koppn their tricks (unless those people are your actual homies). i also hear that most nyc skaters only skate the same spots.

does skating rough ground all the time give u the excuse to say your better because you skate rough ground all the time or dumber because you havn't moved to a spot where ground is smooth to better your skateboard experience?

whats up with all the freemason skaters in nyc too? oops better not of said that, they gonna come after me.

on a unrelated topic they should bring back skatemaps. put antwuan dixon on it, to take harold hunters spot... put reda as pangs spot, grab some of the rawest east coast heads and film them every day skating traveling and getting into hood rat shit with their friends. someone contact somebody from fuel! oh wait if it p-rod or a dude jumping mounds of dirt on a 2 wheeler isn't it fuel might not air it. bummer.

*sources from a reliable skaterat homie living in nyc for the past 4 years, who skates with the homies and what not on a daily-basis*

I believe thats with every city or town though.....there will always be park rats and shit, i lived here my whole life skated for over 8 years im definitely not looking for rough ground at all there so many things out here that would be hittable if the sidewalk wasnt extremely gritty, unfortunately shits not...There's no Free-Masons out here but i think you referring to the way people are just cliquey or the "favoritism" as some put it, it happens but that wont change a company throws a contest and the judges are local older dudes there gonna look at the young dudes with a name somewhat established through being flow or whatever thats how it is (why are secret societies theories all the rage?!?) Underground rippers are everywhere....I kinda hate this place too but i think cause its probably cause i'll skate somewhere out of state like 3/4 times a year and spots here get blown up an capped faster now out here because theres so many new skaters...my beef isnt really with the park rats but the shops/companies willing to put on the best park kids that makes no sense to me its kinda funny too cause park rats win all the contests cause there held at the very same parks then to top it of said company will drop shop/park clips...Come too think about it New Yorkers are killing New York Skateboarding, the guys who come here from wherever will put the work in to find shit and film it...

I apologize if that last post went on too long...i think ny is a dying scene parks kill creativity, tricks become contagious among groups of kids (lipslides now kinda disgust me), and it lets the city think they can confine you to those spaces....but what the fuck do i know

I'm moving to NYC next summer & the first thing I'm gonna do is find me a cellar door to skate. I've never skated one & I just gotta see what all the fuss is about...

Keep out! Locals only!

the ny you hear about sucks, the green diamond sucks. those dudes are the guys everyone hates on, they aspire to be the waste of life local pros in nyc like tino razo and todd jordan. the real kids killing it are the people you don't hear about, you'll see soon.

I'm tired of all these cellar door skating, rough ground claiming fucks representing New York skateboarding. The problem isn't the cellar doors, but the pretension they have toward simplicity and skating "unique spots." If you haven't seen a New York video, that "innovative skating" was tired years ago. Having fun with your friends on a small spot, doing goofy shit is the best; but most of my peers look down upon skating anything challenging. You probably disagree or don't care, but I'm sure some New York heads, and other right coast affiliates, understand.

Sincerely,
a bitter, whiny New Yorker who lost everyone he skates with to smug East coast trends.

skating new york city is hard. not because we choose for it to be, it just is. the weather fucks everything up and we have to deal with it.
But i definitely agree that new york city can get very trendy and played out, but its seriously hard to skate spots in the city over just cruising around and skating random, crusty, "cellar-doors" and such because getting from spot to spot is a fucking trek, and security is usually extremely tight at spots that are really nice, i.e. plazas.

Or you're a brilliant troll.

As with any city, if you know the right dudes in NYC, it's super fun.  Same as anywhere.
example. i cant cast a spelll or love potion on a girl and she falls total in love for me
but i can show a girl my tv youtube clip on my or her phone. but there's a difference ok
