Moving to SF...
« on: September 06, 2011, 12:42:15 PM »
What are some good areas to look into?

Been looking by the Potrero Park, and Lower Haight.
Skate, Music, or Art districts would be rad.
Alright Thanks!

Here's a lil something:

honestly anywhere in the city is ill.

the mission is good for pushing around / close to potrero park / downtown / 3rd and army. there are a lot of murals if you are looking for the arts.

lower haight is pretty centralized / you are near dlx skate shop and ftc.

the tenderloin has some good music studios but is pretty grimey in spots.

the whole city is a skate district for the most part.

i live out in the outer sunset. it's chill, outside of the city, amazing hills to bomb, good vibes, gots the ocean to go surfing if ya dig, lots of nature for inspiration.

just across the bay is oakland which has a pretty sick skate / music / art / diy scene.

don't forget about the bars! In general, they're pretty skater-friendly.

Yeah, I was at Pop's bar the other day.
Pretty rad.
Lower haight sounds good right now.
We'll see. Any other districts central wise I should look into?
Thanks for the responses so far!

if ur already moving here u should have figured it out. kook

Your use of "here" and "kook" effectively informed me that you are
 - a resident of San Francisco
 - one who takes pride in his knowledge of spots and all the happenings of San Francisco
 - an unwelcoming douche who probably isn't even from San Francisco to begin with (I mean, who really is anyway?).

edit: I mean seriously man, he just wants some info!

Oh and move to the East Bay!

the bars in the mission are most definitely the best and basically skate bars in a lot of ways..  i love the mission - delores park for the people watching, casual public drinking and overall killer vibe - skate to potrero and 3rd/army - plus some solid cuisine and you are immersed in the true heartbeat of the city and its culture..  but its sf, youll do fine wherever. fuck i miss it

I would look into Hunter's Point.  Rent is relatively cheap.  You are right on the water and close to SLAP and Thrasher headquarters in Bayview.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

I don't know if I'd want to live there necessarily (it's a ways out of the city center) but a couple weeks ago me & a buddy spent a day skating all over the Excelsior District, which was incredibly rad, skate-wise.

I never even went to that part of town back when I lived in SF, but it looked pretty cheap, it wasn't super congested (unlike the rest of SF) & the skateability was off the charts.

Lower Haight is rad.  The Mission is pretty cool.  Really anywhere in SF is pretty awesome.  If I were to move there I would try move into the Sunset, but I'm not sure that neighborhood is for everyone.
