making your own beer

has anybody on here ever microbrewed?  im thinking about getting into it but im wondering if its worth the start-up costs/hassle.

Potent but it tasted absolutley awful.

Pretty much can't really say anything better than that.

I've made beer before, the total fucking hassle way, then "the other way" you get these things called "beer bags" where you basically pour water into a sack, add yeast wait 6 weeks (or longer if you want something stronger)

So yeah 4 months down the line on the beer bag, no booze, party, beer bag, everyone fucking wasted, it tasted like, well the worst thing ever, if you could drink it, about an hour later you'd gone insane. .  ..

But the hassle way, hmmm yeah if your bored you should do that it's a bit of work, but you sort of get "free booze", that tastes nasty as fuck

I ended up going temporarly blind from a hard night of it, I didnt drink for months after that experiance..

an old science teacher I had used to make his own beer; he said he'd never go back to buying it after his second batch...give it a shot, it might turn out to be a great idea

I've made a few batches of beer before.  It's definately worth it if you're a cheap bastard like me.  Start up costs with a kit and capper and carboy comes to less than $50, most of the stuff is reusable, you just have to buy ingredients each time.  Each batch of ingredients is around $20 which works out to like 30-40 cents a beer.

The batches I made tasted pretty decent, but you can always detect a bit of that homebrew flavour.  Unless you're some gnarly brewmaster I think it's hard to replicate "real" beer exactly.  Whatever you do, leave the beer to ferment for the recommended time.  My person roomates made a batch and couldn't wait to get hammered so they ended up drinking flat camel piss.

I help my friend brew from time to time. Sometimes its great, sometimes awful. Vanilla cream stout turned out great, the marijuana ale (like hemp ale with thc) was not so great, but we drank it anyway for obvious reasons.
Growing weed is fun and exciting too.
Isn't home distilling illegal? (yes I know growing weed is too)
