Speaking of paramount+, finally got around to mayor of Kingstown.... pretty damn good. On episode 4 or 5 season 1.

Also looking forward to mobland. A Stan for anything Tom hardy tho.

I’m pumped for the Netflix movie coming at the end of April Hardy’s doing with the The Raid:Redemption/Gangs of London guy

Havoc! yeah. Werd! me too. just saw the teaser for that. guess i need to borrow a netflix account on april 25th.
Hardy is a baddass, for sure.

That he is... he made a film of him literally driving on a highway captivating... pretty good one

i have put it on my watch list. Thanks.

Daddio is 2 people in a car for the whole movie. I liked it.

White lotus season 3 finished up pretty good. If you've liked the previous seasons you'd probably like it.

V Mild spoiler:  each season starts with a little flash forward type scene for how the season ends, without giving away much so every episode you're constantly wondering how it'll get to that point and I thought it worked out in a pretty satisfying way.
[close]

I remember watching that intro for this season and thinking it seemed like a terrorist attack or something, particularly after the robbery scene in ep 2

I did predict one twist but it wasn’t from the story, it was from the actor they chose

Anyways, great season.

amazing show. sound track/design is so good. they created so much empathy in me for the charaters and i love that it's a tragedy. parker and walton killed. really whole cast crushed it.

Whoa that's eerie. I was just trying to recall a scene from that movie last night and at first I wasn't even sure what movie it was in. There's a whole thing about a very specific color Cadillac in there right?

Here it is:

My favorite lines in that movie are all from Jamie Fox, the part where he calls the dude a big Pavoratti looking motherfucker and then goes FUUUUCK YOUUUUU in an opera voice always killed me but the part where he’s arguing in the ring with Samuel Jackson and he’s like “You can’t talk to me like that, you’re not my daddy…..are you?”
Not the greatest movie but I’ll always remember those two scenes especially.

Damon Wayans as the out of shape fighter watching his VHS copy of Dolemite to get amped up right before for the boxing match was the best.

Lisa Frankenstein is on prime. Reminded me of Heathers meets Hocus Pocus or something. The two sisters are perfectly funny, the sets and fits are spot on, and the writing, even though the plot is basically see-through, is very sharp. Like someone made Evil Dead 2 for girls. Just barely enough logic to get to the next absurdity which the actors seem born to embody. Iounno, I liked it.

Jason Lee’s Triumphant Return to Television in ‘The Residence’

"I haven’t been on TV in a while,” says Jason Lee over Zoom as the sun shines through big windows behind him in his Los Angeles home. “And if there’s going to be a so-called return to TV, this would be absolutely perfect for that. I mean, what a fun character.”

Have you ever watched the show before?

I've watched the 1st and 2nd seasons, but season 3 does different things IMO, especially in the first 2 episodes.  It didn't really feel like white lotus for me until they boat party/ rave episode.    Someone said it best that they are missing the character POV from a local...The locals played a larger role in the other seasons right?

Also I think the producers said they were going for that angle were future seasons can exist on their own without calling back to other seasons.....I know they did in this season but I think you can watch the seasons out of order and it will be fine.  They didn't think the show was gonna be as big as it is and they think it can go down a Fargo or American horror story route where things reoccur like characters

Whoever said Daredevil is good, thank you because I binge watched the fuck out of all 3 seasons and it’s totally worth it I guess I need a late pass for this.

Because of this now watching Daredevil Born Again which is also very good and I even started watching The Punisher because of this, which is equally good so far.

Not the biggest Marvel fan so I’m kind of surprised that I like these that much.

Anyone ever watched The Defenders or Jessica Jones?

Anyone watching Cobra Kai? Although it's cheesey in it's no real consequences of most action movies turned tv series. It's a great series maybe a few flaws here and there but over all I liked the show and the development of the character's backstory and where they're now.

People seemed to like Jessica Jones - it didn’t do much for me personally, but I didn’t hate it.   Defenders was fine, but I kinda don’t remember much about it.
I'm right there with you on the watch/re-watch because of this thread. I was an early enthusiastic supporter but fell off when it got too entangled. You can also read this as I slogged through s1 of Iron Fist and needed a break. No breaks were given and I wound up forgetting about it all. I had seen DD and JJ s1 and liked them both. I wasn't as surprised about JJ being a break out hit because I had read the Alias series it was based on and knew it was a slept on gem from the 00s.

I finished DD s2 on Monday and thought it was better than it's reputation. I liked how it juggles a few different storylines that could have been their own seasons. Matt's life is always just slightly out of control and the woven story put that feeling front and center. It's hard to be his friend, even if he maybe is the best dude you know. I can't say enough about Jon Bernthal as The Punisher but he is about perfect. I wanna talk about an interesting fake out that gets glossed over but I don't wanna spoil it for others who haven's seen the season. Maybe if you've seen the season you have some idea of what I'm talking about?

I moved on to Defenders since I'm trying to mostly follow the Daredevil story and that season seems to be a direct continuation of DDs2, with the Hand as the big bad of the show. Unfortunately, you can tell that most of the creative staff is different as each character sorta gets their show's tone ported over and it turns the thing into a jumble pile. Reminds me of Marvel and DCs annual tradition of doing company-wide crossovers in the summers.  Those always sound good at the pitch level but then you can't remember anything about them a few years later. I have a feeling I will be slogging though to get to DD s3 and The Punisher series.

Wouldn't say it was missing characters that were locals. One of the main characters is Gaitok (the security guard) who's a local. There's also mook and the Russians

And Pornchai, the hotel owner, and Greg Hunt and the other sugar daddies

Did we really get their POV?  I mean Gaitok just seems to have just been bullied by the other Thai locals, and honestly didn't get Mooks role either, I get Gaitok wanted to impress her, but it seemed like she was in the background most this season.  Same with the hotel owner...she kind of just introduces herself to the main players and then she fucks off to a different country so not sure I get that same vibe from the locals as the hawaii season, those hawaiin locals did a good job at pointing out the exploits by the tourists. you dont really get that in this season IMO

Greg isn't a local tho, just another tourist who plans to become a thai expat

and Pornchai...don't know what to think of that guy tbh...in hindsight I thought they were trying to get into belindas head she did the same thing to pornchai as what jennifer coolridges character in seaoson 1 did to her

You’re right.  I think season 1 had the advantage of having the Sydney Sweeney’s friend character speak directly to that disadvantage so overtly, where I don’t think you can necessarily repeat it in the same way and I don’t think Italian or Thai tourism has had the same culture destroying effect as Hawaii has suffered with the influx of white people.  Gaitok had a little bit of that with corrupting his Buddhist beliefs in order to keep a girl who was interested in “ambition” but would Mook feel that way with or without the hotel and its guests

I was really trying to figure Mook out in a lot of scenes...when she was on screen i had a hard time staying focused on the show.  It was almost like she should have been that spiritual lady walter goggins liked early on and was looking for in the finale.   I do get the buddhist aspect of gaitok, but almost seems a bit hypocritical being a security guard, and thought the bullying was justified by the main bodyguards...it was almost as if this was obvious by the time we see him doing target practice, like oh yeah dude has that killer instinct

They hinted it with the daughter and her revelations with the Buddhism and the mom explaining their social status

In all for me the finale episode especially and season 3 was pretty dope

"maybe Dubai or Morocco might be a type of place they do the next season.  I thought maybe a snowy version like in the Alps, but it’s probably be too difficult to maintain that for a seven month shoot"

Im thought at the end of season 2 they said the next season would be in India and the blonde wife character would return.
Maybe that would be the next season. Maybe I dreamed it.

Spoilers:
Also just rewatched the final ep and gaitok is kinda fucked up lol. He just shoots a random guest in the back from like 40 feet away. There's no reason he should think Goggins was the shooter. Anyway prob overthinking it.

I’ve only watched half so far but the new black mirror season doesn’t hit the same as the first couple, still fun watches but none of the twists hit like they used too.
Also for some reason the black mirror episodes with British people always seem better then the ones with Americans.

I dunno the best one for me was the last episode and the eulogy episodes which were Americans. I liked 4 of them a lot.  The episode with the dude on acid was amazing too

The Last of Us season 2 is off to a good, albeit slow, start, imo. As someone who has never played the games, I anticipated more from a return of a series with such a great first season, but I imagine they're following the storyline of the second game pretty closely. Excited to see what ep2 holds.

Yeah I figured.  Going to bank a few eps before I watch.
Same here. I'm glad I'll be out of town for this week's episode.
Bit of a spoiler, but not really: One thing that gets me is how, after witnessing the world collapsing in front of their eyes, there are still homophobic people in that reality. You'd think these people would have larger things to worry about, but I guess it's a statement that ignorance is an undying trait, even in the face of ultimate destruction.
