Anbody here in a band?
« on: October 26, 2006, 07:32:36 PM »
Anybody else?  I'm sure there's a couple...  I remember reading this Clause Grabke interview (heheh) years ago and he was saying that he gets the same kicks outta playing music as he did from skating.  I was thinkin about that today and it rings kinda true.  You know, a sorta "low" art usually without pretension (the exceptions being Daniel Gezmer and Gary Numan).

I mean obviously they're way different, but you can get a similar feeling out of a "sesh with the bros" and "a sesh with the bros" with both skating and music.  And I can hear you whipper-snappers saying "fuck that, skatings my life and I'll never do anything else for the rest of my life.  Imma gonna be like Bill Dorr".  Yeah, I used to say the same thing, but shit changes man.

I was in band for quite awhile actually.....we played lots of funk and blues influenced stuff.....with a hip-hop twist....I was the lyricist.....lots of fun but all good things will come to an end sooner or later.

Spokompton's Finest......

I am actually getting into an 80's style band with a "deathrock" sound called Switchblade Rebar.

j....soy.....

I play guitar and sing a currently nameless punk/hardcore band in the process of writing songs.

I play bass in a surf band called "Junglebreath!" that's pretty much a failure. Me and the drummer of the other band focus our time on that so we rely on the other kid to write songs and he just doesn't.

I want to start a two person thrash band with called "Sailor" with another friend. The lyrics would be the screenplay to David Lynch's "Wild at Heart", where the name comes from. The other friend is into the idea, but we just haven't done it yet.

This thread is fantastic. Me and my friends just started an imaginary band called the dirty limericks. We're in the process of writing our first song about pre-op transexuals. Just shot our album cover yesterday.

I've always thought "The Pissholes" would be a pretty good name.

Almost my same idea except it was going to by a combination of Misfits and Smiths covers. Working title was "The Mismiths". Kind of a hybrid (moments!)...
