i worked full time for a skateshop / park that gave me health benefits.

as for company / team rider relations, this is definitely something i want to learn / need to know more about.

this makes me really happy. I wish more companies would be like that.

i know BakerBoys/Crailtap companies take good care of their riders. pretty much any company with that true "family" atmosphere is most likely gon have their riders backs. I know Plan B has all their riders livin lavish, & that janoski would not be as rich if he were another shoe company.

DLX treats their employees right.  I've heard Blackbox does also.

I know someone who worked at Satori briefly, he said they were weird and clique-ish.

I heard DLX don't pay their riders that much. I have no actual facts, that's just what I heard. But I can believe it since most of the people on DLX get the whole package: board + wheels + trucks, so maybe you get three salaries combined into one, which is better than just one of a board company, but less than if it was paid by three different companies from diferent groups. Furthermore you can't complain too much or else you loose all your sponsors at once (i.e. Tosh Townend back in the Element Days).

Skaters are independent contractors, they are not employee's.

I heard Girl and Chocolate are awful to their employees. No one leaves because they all have Stockholm syndrome. Jereme Rogers was the only one who saw the light.

But, as you know, skate companies have employees that are not professional skateboarders.

I've always wondered if these companies provide health benefits to their employees/contractors, etc...? Anyone know what the word on that? The premiums are probably astronomical if they do.

I think in the Christmas Skate Talk Jerry Hsu mentions that his sponsors pay for his health insurance, but didn't mention which sponsors.

i remember watching a 411 with james craig, he either tore his acl or blew his knee out, blind payed for all his surgerys and had him hooked on this machine to help heal it. i always thought that was pretty cool they didnt just drop him.

Im guessing that isnt the case with Tim O'Connor and Adidas. He was getting surgeries and such on his ankle and they still dropped him.

I would think that DLXSF treat their employees well, and then probably Blackbox was well.

I saw your mom do a ollie to cooch drop straight down the big black pole, it was gnarly. she defiantly shut that shit down

I've known a few people who worked in the warehouse at DLX & they had nothing but good things to say about the place.

knew a few dudes who worked in the warehouse at black box, and others doing different things at the different brands, and they all had nothing but great things to say about it.

same with a guy who worked in the element art department.

You have to look at skating like it doesn't owe you anything, in that respect skate companies will hook you up.

Hasn't manager dude at DLX shop been there for 20 years?  I figure he must be getting paid OK to stay that long.
Nice dude, by the way.

i've been told them dc checks can be life changing, comparable to winning the lottery.

I would think that DLXSF treat their employees well, and then probably Blackbox was well.
got a few good friends who have been with dlx for years and have been able to produce some great things.
