wasn't the deal at mystery that if he filmed a part he would get a board? then something similar at skate mental?
why doesn't he just film a goddamn part? that's the one thing he's had to do for literally years.

There are a lot of guys in this catagory. Just fucking film! Although, I don't really see Durrant as a big time pro, sorry. It should have happened already, at this point they should just give him a board in Australia

http://www.slapmagazine.com/component/option,com_jfusion/Itemid,4/index.php?topic=58024.0

He frames it as move on Mystery's part to not get behind him and showcase him more.  He says in there that they just wanted to use his footage for other little media snacks like commercials or those color theory montages and shit, so he never ended up compiling enough and they were never really committed to him filming a part anyways.

At any rate, it took Windsor James for fucking ever to turn pro for Mystery, and he was always skating - seems the Chief waits really long (with the exception of Tom Asta) to turn people pro.  If you add together $lave, Mystery, and Zero, you'll have quite an excess of man-ams from their teams.

EDIT: I'm a huge fan of this dude for the record and would be ultra-stoked if he got a board out.

Can we stop talking about this guy already??  He hit his peak 5-6 years ago when people still cared about tech ledge tricks.?  Obviously he's good but everyone is these days.?  If he weren't boring as fuck, had an ounce of marketability, and filmed an impressive part, he'd have turned pro already.?  But he is, doesn't, and hasn't.?  Tommy Fynn is the same story.?  Some of you act like anyone who can flip into a back noseblunt should be pro.?  But guess what, there's more to turning pro than that.?  Accept it and move on.

The only thing you just said that I can maybe agree with is the fact that he should put out a new part that proves his full ability, He has put out tons of insane footage but like they said its been scattered, I can think of so many pros that wouldnt be considered " marketable " but are professional because they are amazing at skating, Trying to deny the fact that Dennis Durrant should have a board is a fucking joke and makes me question your knowledge and appreciation for skateboarding, Maybe if he got a nick name and a face tat you would back him to turn pro? Sick philosophy bud...

i started skating in 1993, am i allowed to comment on this?

he hit his peak as an "am to watch" and he never did anything past that. he has a great trick selection and a great style, but he hasn't done shit else. to get a board on mystery all he had to do was film a part. that's it. windsor james isn't part of the new push of guys like carlin and asta, but he filmed a part and got a board because that was all he had to do. there was the interview with dennis durrant right when he got on skate mental where he said he just had to film a part, and if this him being off skate mental rumor is true, that's the second time he didn't do the one thing that would've gotten his name on a board.

how has he deserved it?

Dennis is always out skating, and always either filming or trying to film.  He puts in work.  Anyone that says anything else either is just an observer from a distance or just has no actual idea and is just making their own opinion from shit they read, because everyone that knows or skates with knows that he isn't lazy at all.
Sometimes shit doesn't work out with a company; that's it.  He deserves a legit board hook up and is still as relevant today as ever.  A couple months ago on a trip he clocked so much good shit, that will soon be getting released.

This thread turn has been covered somewhere before. Durrant was (stuck?) in australia, so he filmed his down there. Black box only takes footage from their filmers so none of it got used.instead it went to his picture wheels part.

His ad for skatemental was pro caliber I thought

I dont understand how people are hating on dude. He kills it, the fuck else matters? He shouldve gotten a board from mystery because he put in like five years of work into and has been filming. What would you do if you stayed at the same position at the same company for the same hourly rate or salary for six years? You wouldnt want a raise? sh the fuck up. Senseless hating..

either he's being fucked in the face by everyone, or he's a dickhead. if you skate that good it's bound to happen (turning pro), so there must be some dickhead moves going on by someone, or just no effort on filming shit.

I work at a skateshop in Australia from time to time. For 50% of customers,  brand isn't an issue. It's just what is cheapest. Boards bought in Australia cost about double that of the US.

It's only a tiny % of customers who care about buying an "Aussie pros" board.

and back to the subject..  Dennis is one of the best skateboarders I've ever seen in person

I don't doubt for a second that he's out there skating, but he isn't out there filming. And that's the catch. The talk is essentially "why isn't his name on a board?" and we all know why his name isn't on a board. He hasn't produced and like it or not, that's what you have to do to get your name on a board. He should have his pro model because of what he does and the way he does it, but if I were the person to decide if his name popped up I'd have to pass. He isn't doing anything for anyone, and that's how the industry works. He's been given clear direction on what he has to do, and it just isn't going to happen. I welcome the Dennis Durrant game changer video part, but does anybody honestly believe it's coming? People lose sponsors and disappear for lack of output all the time. Dennis Durrant is another one of them.

-love his skating
-bcos he has been in US for so long but not blowing up he isnt even that famouse/popular/well known in australia atm
its actually amazing how much he comes up in slap threads.
-also think LE would be perfect but dont see it happening, what goes on at skate mental is a bit of a mystery(no pun intended) they hardly overpromote/hype their skaters which isnt necessarily a bad thing...
