Kevin Coakley on NB#?
« on: May 01, 2013, 06:42:34 AM »
Just saw this in my FB feed, is NB just snatching up every east coaster they can find? Coakley deserves the money for sure and I back the dude 100 percent but I honestly can't see myself ever wearing those shoes.

Backing it, Coakley is the shit and deserves a proper shoe hook up.

I don't know why everyone has such an irrational dislike for NB#, the shoes look better than most other companies and New Balance is no more corporate than Nike, adidas or Vans.

I hope these dudes are getting paid out the ass. More than the normal $400 a month or whatever it is.. These corporations should have to pay to play in the skateboard market

You don't get paid unless you go pro.

Wade Desarmo was on Nike am at one point, all he got was 20 pairs of shoes a month to use or sell.

I don't get why so many Girl/Choco vets still have pro model everything after they've stopped skating/producing at a pro level.  Don't Rick and Mike own their companies?  Is their revenue so low they have to keep their names on product for the royalties?  Instead of hooking up dudes who actually deserve it right now.. not 10 years ago....

There marketing is so wack in my opinion they pick up all these kids who all skate the same like daniel, brunner twins, silvas etc and theyre sick but still all skate the same.  Then you have kelly bird bitching on facebook talking about nobody buying lakai's.  There was tons of dudes who are more deserving.  Good for kevin if this is true.  If lakai dont want him good that new balance is gonna scoop him.

Nope. Sometimes Ams get paid a salary, but pros get a salary and royalties. This all depends on the financial health of the company. Some pros only get royalties because they're not producing enough footage to warrant a salary. Sometimes the company doesn't have enough money to pay pros a salary, so they give them product to sling and maybe royalties on top of that. Shit's tough out there right now.

Good for Coakley if this is true. If you big name in skateboarding or somehow tied to some corporate sponsor you should be getting paid well. Dudes like Bucky and Biebel are making 10k plus a month just from Red Bull. I'm sure Mark Suciu is getting crazy jack thrown his way from an assortment of sponsors.

Maybe they are secretly revamping the defunct clothing company and just calling it new balance alphanumeric.
