I have nothing but good things to say about David. That part was insane and he seems like a good guy, if a little mindless. Ha, his stories on this week's weekend buzz were pretty endearing. I think a guy that tries drinking piss for the hell of it and then 50-50s 16-stair double-set rails is as rad as they come.

That said, it's weird to see how a trophy race has actually developed around the Skater of the Year award. Everyone knows Oscar season, and now it's like we have SOTY season--that time of year when X number of pros are giving crazy amounts of content to Thrasher exclusively and repping the mag's merchandise (David was probably wearing more Thrasher t-shirts in that part than any of his actual sponsors) incessantly. Maybe I'm seeing through rose-tinted glasses, but it seemed like in the past a gnarly skater like Cardiel/Carrol/Rowley would just naturally kill it--and if it happened to fall conveniently in a calendar year, congratulations: here's a gold man on a chunk of parking block! Now it all seems much more contrived. Blame Phelps for always emphasizing, "...and what they did for THE MAG."

Of course, these days no one ever states it's their ambition to be SOTY (for all of Sheckler's foibles, good on him for actually admitting it); there's just faux blase instead. If people are really gunning for, I'd rather have them acknowledging it.

Oh, and in case I didn't emphasize it enough: 16-stair double-sets--GOD DAMN!

Pretty sure David Gonzales actually did. Maybe on one of his sponsors' sites or something?

Still watching. Everything is perfect.  This shit is just raw.  Hard to imagine any part bettering this, even in the Girl vid.

First off im glad they didnt use any volcom music label garbage for this part. Say what u will about judas priest but i can watch this part a 2nd time without cringing as much.

Is daveeds ender the "parents night" rail that dollin ended up not skating in his baker has a deathwish part? That was retardo sick. Still want to see dollins footage of it.

this part reminds me of all the old zero videos. Very sick.

Still kinda iffy on ewan bowmans filming/editing but its gotten better since last time. Didnt like the multiple zoom ins on daveeds feeble. Shouldve had one angle where it wasnt slowmo'd and without the zoom in. A couple more normal speed shots wouldve been nice.

Favorite trick is the grind on the stadium rail where he jumps onto the flat part and goes down the rail ala romero.

A sick part indeed.

watched it several times. seriously amazing. switch flip is probably my favorite but pretty much every trick was an ender. the kickflip nose slide was pretty crazy also but funny that it hasn't really got any shine because the part is just that gnarly.

Ditto pretty much everyone... fucking insane. That correction he made after the front blunt transfer off the fence had me grinning ear to ear... just fuckin risking shit!

which trick?

the line with the fs flip in the mob ad was sick there too. not sure if i'd call that thing a mini either. that was a pretty big ramp. really like how he flowed those crail grab air thingys too.

its a 32 stair double set. And Phelps knew what he was doing with his
'what have they done for the mag" game.

that's why Dennis is the best; he don't play that game

Muska did that rail first try!

(and didn't fall off of his board)

[close]

bs grindiing rails especially kinked ones is much harder than fs. and its the muska!
[close]

False.

David falls backwards and there is a wall to save him from further injury.

Muska falls backwards and he is dropping onto steps.

Yeah.

It doesn't even matter tho: Muska first try over ten years ago! (With much more style)

Ok wow, short bus award goes to you. You just focus on that, and we'll watch the rest of the sickest part of the year.

I heard Muska got some fs and bs NBDs on this kinker.

Jesus Christ? haha Ok... I didn't think the joke was very funny to begin with sir. Also I wasn't trying to be funny. He obviously isn't going to have a 2 minute grocery shopping part in Pretty Sweet.

Thrasher still haven't put it on youtube so I probably won't watch it again until then, which trick are you referring to exactly?

In-between all the insane shit he did the trick that stood out the most for me was that back blunt transfer into the ditch.
it looks like a 5 block spot where u jump a big gap but theres stairs with a big rail at the end where its flat at the side then it goes down and he skates it pretty nicely. Definitely the most progressive trick in that part aside from the blunt transfer into the ditch. I dont think anyones hit stadium rails like that before.

Because it was more like a long flatbar than a real kink considering the rail and more importantly i dont think the trick is getting enough attention.
