Telescope Owners!

Just from a conversation I had with a friend…

Real quick, can we see that flag they planted on the moon?  If not, why not?

I don’t know one way or the other.  Too god damn poor to be able to look myself.  Seems like we should see that thing up there with our own eyes, right?

Post a pic and I’ll delete the thread.

Same. I thought everybody already saw it. It’s boring seeing only that.

They need to launch a bunch of randomly dressed mannequins and one that looks like Waldo. It would cost less than the F-35 from Lockheed.

The James Webb telescope can see galaxies from the birth of the universe….

If we planted it there, at this point shouldn’t we be able to take pictures of it?

Maybe I’m dead wrong… point me towards the light.

"NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) satellite, tasked with mapping the Moon’s surface from lunar orbit for a decade, does achieve sufficient resolution to spot the shadows of three Apollo flags. In fact, LRO’s cameras can see objects as small as 20 inches on the surface of the Moon, sufficient to positively identify the extended shadows streaming from the Apollo 12, 16, and 17 flags."

Father in law has a $10k+ telescope with programable coordinates and on one semi clear night we located Jupiter along with a couple visible moons. Shit was awesome. We also pointed it to our moon and it was equally cool. With that type of disposable cash I’d be more inclined for a fast car and mods but I definitely can understand the appeal to peer into space.

Where I live in the middle of Shenzhen I can see thousands of windows from my place. I have thought about getting a telescope many times, but it wouldn’t be for flags on the moon.

Thanks man.  Not trying to be annoying here but I don’t see a flag, haha.

Like couldn’t there be calendar and bookcover shots… maybe a monument of some sort?  It’s a pretty big deal and it’s right there…  If someone pointed that flag out to me and I saw it with my eye, I’d offer a full retraction 🤷‍♀️

Totally willing to be very wrong and look like a reetard, wouldn’t be the first time haha.

I want to weigh in and share my personal experience with space...

I once went to Jupiter to get more stupider.

You're welcome.

What would a flag left exposed to the sun on earth look like after 55 years? Now what would it look like without the UV protection of an atmosphere?

Opened the thread and expected some pervs talking about secretly watching their neighbors. Would have fit OP's username much better. Instead we have another conspiracy-like thread by OP, I think the 3rd now on the front page of whatever.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Hey, my son has some low tier Chinese telescope called a “Gskyer”!

We did get a nice view of the conjunction of Saturn and Venus(?) a few years ago. Also got a good view of the last lunar eclipse…
