I have a ton of old thrashers and while looking through a couple, I saw one of the first issues; the one with allen losi doing a fakie ollie footplant which is super gnarly on it's own merit. Then I noticed something about it...

Variflex Connection Trucks. As you can see from the profile picture, they're somewhat "conventional" in the sense that the pivot is in the same place. The kingpin is in the same place too, except that the angle is so great that it's routed behind the axle.
