Suicidal Tendencies - s/t album.
I purchased this the other day. It definitely takes me back to my middle school days when I would bump this shit loud and proud.

To Frenchie:
Eh, it's okay to buy reissues. I try to buy originals whenever possible, but I don't mind reissues depending on the artist and rarity of the album.
A Tribe Called Quest is SO essential though! Great hip hop. Great addition to anyone's music library, regardless of what edition it is.
Do you have the original pressings of Suicidal Tendencies' first four albums?!?!

Just bought this for my brother as a birthday present...

What album did you get for your brother..?
Also, I looked up The National: Boxer, I assumed that they were a 1920's music ensemble... I was dead wrong. I really like their vocalist. Guest Room has a great sound/flow.

Recent Purchases:
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band - Live Peace in Toronto 1969
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Dead Meadow - Old Growth
Van Morrison - Beautiful Vision (for the love making)

Saturday Night Fever - soundtrack from the motion picture
The Steve Miller Band - greatest hits 1974-1978
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
The Best of Carly Simon - Vol. 1
^^^ got these four for $8 total - so psyched!

favorite recent purchase: John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band!

I got the Bon Iver album for my brother.  I'm fairly sure he hasn't heard of them/Justin Vernon, but hopefully he'll be into it.

Cool to hear you dig The National.  Matt Berninger (the vocalist) is absolutely great, for whatever reason his lyrics just click.  Also Guest Room is a great track, really stood out to me the first time I listened to the record as well.

yeah I don't mind reissues either! some LP's are just getting too expensive nowadays to buy the originals....

as far as Suicidal, you made me check my collection just to be sure! and I found this:

Original but German pressing

original US pressing. I think I bought it when I was 12, first trip to the US with my parents haha....just cause I had seen their name in Thrasher!

Original but German pressing

I thought I had 4 LPs, but the last one is this EP actually. which is pretty good. Wonder how much it's worth on Discog now!

pre-ordered the new Boards of Canada ... with no intentions of putting it up on ebay immediately after receiving it in the mail

So are any posters into buying/collecting vinyl?

If so, share and post your favorites and recent purchases. 7" and 12" and every other size. Originals, re-releases, etc.
Post it all!

I'll start off with my most recent pick ups

i'm still on this spree so far i own all 4 official studio albums and a few compilations, best of's, etc.
this one is pretty sick, it was a present from a friend - unlicensed 3lp set containing "the smiths" "meat is murder" and "the world won't listen".

also i bought this yesterday:

Frenchie: you could probably get some serious money for those albums if you kept them all in mint condition. I don't think that first pressings for Suicidal Tendencies' first album go for all that much though...
Cool to hear you dig The National.  Matt Berninger (the vocalist) is absolutely great, for whatever reason his lyrics just click.  Also Guest Room is a great track, really stood out to me the first time I listened to the record as well.
Of course. Do you have any other recommendations from The National?

dope o so dope as fuck
I'm working towards collecting ALL of Pink Floyd's discography, including all compilations and live albums. And I own all of Syd Barrett's albums as well (only three albums, but still). I'm almost done. There are only a few album that I still need to get from Pink Floyd. Then... I'll start collecting bootlegs.

--Fuck yeah rusty! The Elevators are one of my favorite bands. I'm trying to get some Roky Erickson records, but they're all crazy expensive.
Do you know what edition your album is?

Ouch... I know what you mean though. I don't really consider the Violent Femmes to be a band that people just "grow out of."
But as long as you're psyched on it, that's what matters. I think it's a classic album though. It definitely belongs in everyone's collection of records.
Plus, it's being reissued now, so that's just a testament to its greatness.

Neil Young- Comes a Time (Original Pressing)
Neil Young- Harvest Moon (Original Pressing)
Iron Butterfly- The Best of Iron Butterfly Evolution (Original Pressing)
The Wipers- Over the Edge (Reissue)
Roxy Music-Self Titled (Original Pressing)
New Order- The Western Works(Reissue) -side note: I recommend this for any New Order fan. This particular album features two versions of "Dreams Never End" and "Ceremony" which are very different from the studio versions and also feature Stephen Morris on vocals. He was originally going to sing but decided the task of drumming and singing was too difficult. Check it out.

Castle Face and Friends cover The Velvet Underground and Nico.
Foxygen- WE ARE THE 21ST CENTURY AMBASSADORS OF PEACE AND MAGIC.
