practical benefits of pushing switch?
« on: February 25, 2013, 11:32:49 PM »
Right now I'm working on getting a solid switch push.

I'm curious if people here have found that learning how to push switch comfortably helps with their switch skating at all.

I know some of the most talented dudes who skate switch do switch mongo so it's not necessary, but I feel like it would help switch grinds/manuals because of balance in switch position.

pushing mongo my first 2 years definitely helped me skate switch easier
or at least when it comes to switch board control/ pushing
i dont have a deep bag of tricks switch,
but i feel very comfortable enough to push that way when i get tired of my stance from skating long distances

I just want everyone to know that I'm only 32.8% skateboarder, and that's on a good day. The rest is just soy and cum.

I learned to push switch well because when I'd skate for any reasonable distance, I'd always switch stance when my pushing leg got tired. I'm pretty comfortable skating switch, but my switch tricks themselves are sub par, when on the contrary I see younger kids that an do switch tres, but can't even ride switch.

Dude!  Same shit here.  MY buddy always ripped on me for mongo shit when I first started, so I switched.  Then, later on, when we started to fucks with switch stance, it was so easy for me to push and he was fucked.  He does that mongo hop thing into switch stance that I absolutely hate.  So, yeah, just thought that was awesome.  Also, just pushing around switch most definately helps with switch tricks and comfortability IMO.
I suck at SLAP.

I actually push around between spots in the city in switch stance more than regular. I find it helps a lot with energy when I'm out skating for hours and going to different spots all over.  I think it does help me with being more comfortable conceptualizing and setting up for switch tricks, but mine are all still mob as fuck.

Honestly if I never started pushing switch I don't think I would have ever learned any switch tricks, b/c pushing mongo and then setting up was so weird to me.  Of course some of the greatest pushed mongo, but it just couldn't work for me.  I don't skate that much anymore due to work, but when I do I still push switch just to get more comfortable and I think it makes learning switch tricks much easier.  Unfortunately, to each his own.  I got a few friends who gotta push mongo or else.
