I didn't really start skating till maybe the early 2000's, so I've only really seen short clips of him over the years, but I've always admired his style.  Was pretty bummed to hear he had already retired.

Retired because he didn't want to give discredit to his sponsors?  Some of his old teammates are probably feeling a little awkward right now seeing how a little throwaway park session had more than they'd put out in years.  Hahahaha!  Dude definitely still has it.

Hard to get too down on those guys considering most of them probably don't have a high school diploma, let alone a college degree or any professional skill sets to speak of.  Can't be the easiest decision to go the honorable route when that path will likely lead to you living out the rest of your days working the counter in a convenience store, doing mall security etc.

It is a fair point but I'm pretty sure if you reached out to Rick Howard and Mike Carroll they would help you getting something within the industry. Most of the people on girl/chocolate seem pretty decent and would be well known in skating, something like that would help in a sales job going round shops. You could take classes focusing on CAD while you were still skating and go the shoe design route. Worst case scenario you could probably work in the warehouse. Problem is, lots of these guys get worried about their ability to perform and end up going underground or drinking lots. If you didn't alienate yourself I'm sure those guys would help you out, it would be also be beneficial for them to get a non-performing pro off the team without the difficult conversation.

respect to this cat.. always enjoyed his skating, had the privilege to see him skate in person once too an it was awsome, fast controlled skating for sure. raging half-cab noseslide on this rail at the park i remember.. it's good that he has shoe designing for lakai to fall back on an fully still be in the industry an involved with his friends.. i can see him still popping up in lakai/crailtap edits or whatever as well.. not like he's completely done skating or anything as this clip clearly proves he still has it an still looks amazing on a board, he simply didn't want to be looked at as a slacker or under caliber with the rest of the guys.
