I called Apple once over a Shuffle. I ended up on the phone with some fat mom from Wisconsin telling me to try restarting my computer.

The end of my call was me calling her a piece of shit and hitting the receiver against my desk, asking if she's ever heard that before.

Technically, they're not allowed to hang up on you.

I think the most arrogant thing Mac has done is calling the support guys in the store "Mac Geniuses". I love going in the store and walking up to one and asking "are you a geniuses?"

I helped out in a marketing agency for a couple of weeks and they were all using macs. They only had one single PC, but noone could even handle it. Some guy, who worked there for ages already, showed me, bursting with pride, how I could resize open tabs. But he had no idea how to close them. He just kept resizing them in all directions so he could see the tab he needed. When I explained to him, what the "x" in the upper right corner was for, he was so excited...

It's kind of like dog town the the Zboys for skating. Tells story of rise of MS over Apple in the early days of home computers. Anthony Micheal Hall plays gates. Haven't seen it but definitely heard about it a few times.

There's nothing wrong with that but in the programming circles, using a mac is kind of like showing up at the park with blades on. No matter how tight the blades look and how easy they are too use, you still look like a pussy without a clue.

But its not really a big deal if computer nerds think you suck.
Wow, I can't believe people actually bitch about the computers they DON'T have.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”

I saw some documentary i can't remember the name of but it showed that steve jobs had stolen all of the innovations that microsoft later stole from him from i believe Xerox or Kodak or something similar.  They had the mouse and email in the 70's but executives at the company didn't see the benefit and canceled the program.

If you come up with a good UI design then that will set a new standard that all others will follow. That's just how it works. You could publish a usabilty book to get some benifit from your discovery but beyond that, you are just contributing to the community at large with your discovery.

Computer science is more like math than graphic design.

If you come up with a useful new formula or technique, it is something that will establish a new way of doing things, not something that will benifit only you.

I think the best example of this is shown by the patents held by IBM. They have patents for all kinds of silly shit, like the blinking cursor. How fucked would it be if each company that was first to arrive at a natural conclussion was the only one that got to use that idea.

I think it's obvious that it's better for everyone that computers are that way.

I come more from the open source school of thought and think it should all be about sharing ideas and techniques.
