horror is the best...but not into the shock, who can think of the worst way to kill/maim someone horror (i.e. Saw I-XXXXIV)...more of the "classic" stuff i.e. Exorcist, Shining, etc. everyone has mentioned.
will check out the Conjouring, as that reads like more of the classic "chills/creepy" sorta movie. what other recent (last 5 years) stuff is along those lines? there's nothing worse than getting yourself psyched to watch a horror movie and then having it be terrible, and not funny-b-movie terrible, just plain terrible.
as far as Zombies are concerned...i'm pretty classic as well. Romero-style slow-walkers are the way to go. I think Walking Dead does a good job...but not into the World War Z running maniac style (although the book is one of my favorites...mainly because follows the classic rules). Shaun of the Dead is also a perfect Zombie movie, despite the comedy.
Dale & Tucker was good.
I give a pass to 28 Days/Weeks Later because they were done so well otherwise.
