@rockydennishead

I feel bad I didn't respond to your post earlier.....at the time I was "crowding" the board with posts and didn't want to seem like the Welcome Wagon because I am new at skating and not good at all.  In any case....

WELCOME!

Whoa dude is this even legal?!
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

More solo sessions means more selfie slow-mo screen grabs. Trying to ease back into skating some bigger tranny... Exhausting...

Age: 41. Started mid 90's and stopped skating around 2002, and have just come back.

Married: no
Kids: 4
Occupation: Senior systems engineer
Fave skaters: Mike York, Tom Penny, The Muska

Doesn't sound kooky at all. Right now without skateboarding, I'd be a mess....

Can't recall if I posted in this thread already at some time, I think I haven't.. For all my life it seems I've gotten into skating for a few years, then fallen off for a couple when the friends have stopped and then gotten back into it again (when finding new friends or just new motivation). Started on and infamous Turbo II around maybe '94 or something, I'm turning 37 in November now.

The funny thing is that in my adult years it has seemed like every time I pick it back up I can pretty much continue where I left off, partially because I was never good enough to have skills I could have lost over time, partially due to doing other stuff like gymnastics that has some carryover effects.

After another hiatus of a few years I got back on a year ago and decided now is the time I learn to drop in on tranny. There has been a lot of new concrete parks near me where I could find transition low enough not to be afraid of dying. I surprised myself soon after by learning BS axle stalls and 5050s which have been great fun. I have now recently been able to do those on some more proper sized quarters as well, so I'm hoping to see some miniramp sessions in the future. The thing is, I can't rock fakie or tail stall at all, so I might need to get those on lock as well :D.

Other stuff I've been working on slowly is the kickflips of course and BS 5050 on ledges. When I only have an hour or less at a time to skate I tend to just do the stuff I know because it feels good and then maybe throw 5 kickflip attempts at the end when I'm tired and it's almost time to go.
take what small comfort there may be left
seize what you love and damn all the rest

Cool little edit there CheeseSteak.

Love that full pipe shot Frank and Fred, gotta try one of those someday.

Heres my old man rant...

Heard some guy call a fake f/s halfcab noseslide a f/s half cab switch back tail other day. Laughed pretty hard. Sounds aloot cooler as a switch BSTS I guess.. (and hes in his 30's, he should know better)

end rant.

Hope you all have a good Friday night session - looking forward to mine!!

So right now I’m readin an old TWS from 2002 check out with this dude who I skated with on Pharmacy who was a rad skater at the time n wanted to see if a video was anywhere on YouTube...

Just found it and this is the first video I was ever in part 1 13:25 complete with Adidas track pants, shirtless, n bleached hair at Chafee in its prime. Has to be from around 2000 when it was filmed. Also filmed a nollie flip backside tailslide that day but never made it in the video. It was the same time Mulder had a Chocolate ad doin the same move there on a lower ledge at the same spot. Always wondered why they never used that clip in the video...

Also the first parts of Brian Herman (World flow era) poopin on a 420 shirt in the credits, Tony Silva (pre Foundation), n Matt Allen (Flip flow era).

Just some pics here….yesterday was one month since my “bowel resection” and I just set up a new board so I hit my ramp with below-coping mellowness for only 15 minutes (1st skate in about 6 weeks)….kickturns and pumping and such.  One pic is of the scar from surgery.  Hard to believe that one month ago I was cut wide open on an operating table, but here it is….the wonders of modern medicine….

 @Frank and Fred

Thanks Man,  gotta ask though, what’s a TF?!?!  Trying to figure but can’t…..

Edit - Is it Training Facility?  I think it’s Training Facility.  Some of these acronyms can be hard to figure!!!!  Google helps, but I had to include “skateboarding” in the search or it just came up as “The Fuck”.  I used “xtremeskater.com” mini ramp plans as the basis for my TF.

I'm jealous dude.  I want to build my own now that I'm in a house with a backyard, but the lumber prices went nuts at the same time I finally had the space and free time to do it.  One day though, one day!
