Actually, this is the first giant squid caught and on film. The last one was just filmed.

I could have sworn they had never even seen a full one until that one washed ashore recently.

On a side, stoned note, do you think that fish think of dry land and air kind of like outer space, and like people are aliens? Like when a fish gets caught and released it was like it was abducted, but none of the other fish think it happened, because fish are stupid. And when a fish gets caught and disappears for no reason, nobody knows what happened, but some cynical fish think it was land creatures. When like a duck or something comes down and catches a fish it must be like Mars Attacks! Shit, crazy stuff. Oh, and flying fish are like astronauts, and some don't come back alive because they land in a boat, and the aliens got 'em.

Another cool thing is that the guy who caught it is named Tsunemi. Can't call you kid that anymore in good conscience though after all those poor people's lives were wrecked in that giant fucking tsunami.

the first time they only got photos. i saw the documentary on discovery. they had two camers that shot a photo every 30 seconds for six hours
