There's not really any good reason to compare Freedumb to Bianca Chandon.  The only thing I see in common with them is that skaters own them.

It's not a true comparison, it's more-so a subtle point. Being that Freedumb is classic, honest to skateboarding and has a team of all of his homies that are legendary to skateboarding.

Does Bianca truly represent skateboarding in an honest way or a pretentious way? IMO, it's pretentious. Sure, he wants to be artistic and voice his opinions, I just think it can be in so many different ways that aren't so exclusive to just Alex Olson's interests but inclusive to skateboarding and embraces it as a community.

It doesn't seem AO knows how to connect the essence of skateboarding with his interests yet.....as I mentioned before he should consider freelance illustrators/designers for board graphics.  It's always good to have an open ended art direction. Classic is the way to go.

I'm sure I will be proven wrong and his products will be worth money one day and auctioned off on eBay for crazy prices.

while masturbating once more for the road. what exactly is 'cut and sew'? like you buy the clothes and hafta assemble them yourself?
I get that the end of you statement was a joke. But if your actually wondering what cut & sew means it would be meeting with a garment manufacturer and designing your own pattern and selecting the fabric to make a shirt that you really can't buy anywhere else. Then adding whatever branding/logo. Right now he's just screen printing or embroidering small batches of commercially available shirts. If people think his shirts are overpriced now a small run of cut and sew T shirts would be a reality check. Look at fashion brands and their $120 dollar blank T's.
I think its a waste anyway to go to that effort for a T shirt. There are so many different fits on the market. I've seen some Bianca stuff at the skate park and the fit seems similar to my American Apparel t's. I just buy them when they have the buy 1 get 1 free deals. $12 each is fair for a shirt that fits that good. Im tall and slim so i have to buy xl in other brands so they're long enough but they end up too baggy. I do agree that the recent drops have been uninspiring.

Like most skate groups there is that one friend into dumb shit.  In this case it's Diamnod. He's like a junkie for the shit. When those hideous Tiffany dunks were coming out he almost came when he got a pair.

Anyways. He's all about the "cut n sew" stuff they put out.  I must admit the tee's look a million times better. Maybe because the logos aren't so big.  I asked him about the pricing and he said it wasn't too bad.

Moral of the story is Coco loves Ice.

Well I guess its obvious the people complaining about Bianca's pricing aren't really his target audience.
I don't think he's expecting most people to get it, or even some.
Just a few. Brand awareness is only relevant to some social groups, moms want a Lexus to show off to their friends. Hype beast kids want limited shoes or flashy bright logos from whatever is cool this week.
Sometimes it's the exclusivity that draws people in, others it's knowing some people know they spent ridiculous money on some clothing item.
Then there are the select few who appreciate luxury that exists on such a high plane that 95% of us have no clue about it. People in that rung don't flinch at $100 blank t shirts and $500 shoes that aren't a collab. Alex's venture is geared at the skateboarder equivalent of this.
They genuinely admire him and his concepts, they aren't lurking Marshall's looking for factory seconds or boasting of their latest 6pm come up.
To each their own, but kudos to Mr Olson for trying to do something interesting.

One thing I do like about this type of approach is that if you see someone wearing his stuff at least you would know they are a skater, at this point anyway. Like someone wearing airwalks in 89, be quite ironic if the company took the same trajectory.

By the comments in the topic it seemed like a lot of people didn't.
In hindsight my commentary was probably unnecessary but whatever. I don't assume that anything is implied.
And I'm not a fanboy of the brand, pretty over myself already.

I'd like to add that I wasn't posting as someone who is into the brand, it truly came off that way and sounds lame.
Just that I got what he was doing and assumed people didn't. Obviously I was wrong.

$24 for a tshirt is alot? Are you guys posting from the third world or some shit? I guess I take my winters in swiss ski resorts and sleep in 1200 count egyptian cotton sheets and go yachting on the reg but even after all that 1% baller shit I do $24 still is not a lot of money for a good quality t-shirt.

The skate industry standard, classic, kind of a perfect shirt. I get blanks at a swap-meet, 3 for $10.00. I also get Vans authentics for $35.00 at the same swap-meet.

did I say my AA shirts were luxurious? You missed the point. I said it was a good standard shirt in response to everyone who thinks that Bianca Chandon shirts were some exorbitant luxury and brags about their 5 for $10 swap meet shirts.  In my experience AA fits great. Although I don't think they cater to the more heavy set individuals, pear shaped etc.
