I don't really get it, maybe because I am a photographer. Dude doesn't even seem to know how to use this format, it just Looks like footage that has two black boarders on to the top and on the buttom.

Im not sure how much there is to "get" other than the fact that it is a very different aspect ratio than you normally see skate footage shot in. Pretty much the opposite of the conventional death lens set up. Check out the rest of the series and see if it adds up for you. Not saying you gotta like it--to each their own obviously--but I find his work really refreshing.

All of this long lens/super wide aspect ratio stuff works perfectly for what Phil Evans is doing with these. It makes lines (especially like the lines on those cement blocks) seem simultaneously extra aggressive and extra artful. Stoked on this series.
