Your local scene
« on: September 25, 2014, 02:18:27 PM »
How's your local scene doing?
Who's out there, what are they doing, who made it?
Who makes you laugh? Who's makes you smile? Who makes you wonder?
What's good? What's bad?

Aarhus, DK

This is a video from a friend of mine. Jeppe. It's a couple of years old. The following video premiered three weeks ago(I'll let you know when it reaches the Internet)
It's pretty much the heavy hitters from town. Actually almost none of them original from Aarhus, but everybody resident.

And this is YUNG shord. Born and resident skateboarder and musician.

Enjoy

my town sucks. Most the skaters werent able to get good and quit but theres like 3 other skaters and the only one of them that comes daily is a 11 year old who is able to tre and what not so hes cool. the other 2 come like once a week and do the same easy tricks every time for the past 4 years.
eh dont worry though we have like 20 scooter kids who come rip everyday and dont watch were they are going but its okay cause i dont either and make one cry atleast twice a week.

sadly this is 100% the truth.. im glad im moving soon

i havn't really seen this topic done to death. Seems a lot more constructive than talking about street league and Nike SB for the 500th time.

It's pretty cool. I like being able to go to the park and at least have people to acknowledge. We've got a pretty cool DIY park too that everyone helps maintain, so the community aspect in that alone brings me back a lot, even though I honestly kinda suck at that park.

I don't really hang out with many skateboarders outside of skating, for the most part. I'm cool with everybody, but it's hard for me to relate to skateboarders sometimes.

everybody fucking sucks as a person, except the dudes that hang out at my barrios park, wich is kinda cholo and shit.
we drink  we skate  and we smoke weed surrounded by feds, narcs, and the state's justice building, wich are surrounding our park wich amazingly isnt a bust.

i always hated the word 'scene'. i'm not sure what it is but i'm not a part of it. i skate alone, yeah w/ nobody else. ya know when i skate alone i prefer to be by myself.
not always by choice, just nobody wants to skate the same stuff as me. maybe everyone else is the scene. didn't carles declare the scene to be dead?
wormside is prolly the closest thing to a 'scene'. bunch of suburban gentrifiers making it harder for our indigenous junkie population to shoot up peaceably.
i build spots and other people skate/damage them. maybe little kids are what the 'scene' is.
maybe there's no such thing as 'scene' it's just something people use to sell magazines or feel part of something artificial. mostly there's just little crews of 2-5 gentlemen pointing cameras at each other and speaking in abbreviations and injokes.
the closest thing i have to a crew is either my downstairs neighbor or rusty james or jim and dan. or if i'm lucky mike leslie might stop up from providence. i think it would be as exciting as it is unlikely to get all 5 of us together some day.
oh, cops arrested my brother w/ a knapsack full of bricks at my DIY today so i don't know what the future holds for Arctic Plaza. pray for me yallz.

no street scene/good night time ledge spots here. we got a skate park and there are some park rippers but it's not really my cup of tea. i will admit i do see a LOT of different people there for such a small town.

Everyone knows everyone, real small scene in the burbs. You got the street dudes who are mostly sponsored and get footage everyday, and the park bitches who frequent the same place everyday. Spots are few and far between around here, but us locals know when and what to skate. Everyone goes hard as fuck this time of year because it'll start snowing from Nov to April, quebec sucks the scene shuts down half the year.

Portland has always had a good skate scene. I don't think I'm part of it and I'm fine with that. I've lived here long enough to know some rad people and have friends to skate with, that's good enough for me.

The NYC skate scene is five teenagers, each a member of a different high school clique, who spend a Saturday in detention together and come to realize that they are all more than their respective stereotypes, while facing a villainous principal.

The principal will be played by Steve Rodriguez, who makes the five students complete challenging but pointless tasks to avoid being burdened with a failing grade in all classes.
