Chuck Taylor
« on: October 15, 2014, 12:05:26 PM »
Everyone is rocking Chucks Taylors. Al Davis and DeLa are even wearing them in the London Gx1000 clip (which is a great series). They weren't wearing that shit in Search the Horizion. How can any grown man wear those things? Besides looking like shit, they rip in days. Pops must be roling in his grave. They are owned by Nike, so this new sub set of "underground" dudes wearing them is really strange.

it's beyond me. I remember back in the day kids i knew skating them because the were punk as fuck and cheap, and i explained that its not cost effective to buy new shews twice a month if saving money if your thing. I have been seeing a bunch of clowns recently rocking them with their toes hanging out.

Dudes have been skating in Chucks since the first piece of plywood was attached to roller skate trucks.  It's nothing new.  Skateboarding is cyclical, and right now Chucks are popular.  Give it a year or two and "tech" shoes will be the hot shit.
Get litty.....

They probably weren't wearing them in Search The Horizon because Habitat was still making shoes then.  And they are probably skating them now because Cons is the only company willing to send them shoes consistently.

And, now Nike is suing others for making what they see as replicas of Chucks.

I am pretty sure Nike SB has ripped off numerous skate shoe designs over the years...

al davis was wearing a pair of chucks in one clip in search the horizon. and if you superglue the canvas before you skate they will last much longer than a pair of suede shoes. for me at least

I skated some regular canvas Chuck Taylors this year and the sole was real thin but I don't jump off shit anyway, and I put superglue on the holes worn in the canvas and they lasted for like two and a half months.

The new suede ones have a pretty decent life span, I wore down vulc part all the way to the toe cap without even making an ollie hole by putting just a bit of shoe goo on there.  Landing primo sucks but they have the best board feel out.

there's some opinions on this in the newest page of one of the shoe threads, that said i've had both and i do prefer the cts
the padding in the tongue was memory foam i think, the ctas is a good shoe but without the padding i need a half size smaller

hahahahahaha!

It's really a great shoe! I've never had to worry about blowing out the toe from flip tricks. As for the the side panels either canvas or suede, Just put a little bit of super glue or shoe goo on that and it'll last just as long as the toe cap. I've had both the CTS and currently skating the CTAS and i prefer the CTAS cause the tongue on the CTS tends to get a little bulky.

Does anybody skates the CTS/CTAS low, and does heelflips, heelflips variations regularly without bleeding?

I'm not sure if i'm the only one, but those are too low for me. It's ok if I do anything but heelflips, but when I do Fs or varial heels it grips my ankle really bad, and i end up bleeding (skated one pair 3 or 4 years ago)

The gloves (street claws?), DK shirt, mohawk, tongue poke, the seam in the quarter with pvc coping that looks to be at the end of a cul de sac... Everything about this photo is great.
Fuck the rest of this thread.
