Really liking his stuff! surprised mags aren't covering it in their "retired pros doing other shit" sections.

I kind of wish  Pluhowski never retired , really liked his style and trick selection . Was a good time for him and Habitat

Kinda stoked how he walked away though , he decided it was over and just left it , no instagram clips ( I know it wasnt around then )or trying to go to other " lesser companies until he kooks himself out "

Hope he is doing good , seems like a nice guy who focuses on his family .

now I'm not the biggest antiques roadshow aficionado but were pops' benches ever meant to be used for anything or are they something a girl named Epiphany would buy for her flat?

Pluhowski definitely has skills.  I've been following his blog for a few years and he's built some really awesome high end furniture.

actually just did a report on his stuff recently for an architecture class. His craftsmanship is amazing. He uses practically no securing elements like screws or glue to hold the pieces together but instead hand-shapes the joints so that they fit together seamlessly. I was really impressed with the work on his instagram account.

He got one of the best 360-flips out there.

No need to start a discussion about this, that's just my opinion.

Cons sent some of them certain accounts, but i heard he didn't use the correct glue so a lot of them fell apart in shipping.

As a Cabinetmaking student I feel I should be part of this discussion.  Although, I've only been at it for a couple months, and worry that when school ends in April I'll still be pretty useless to woodworking employers.  My teacher expects you to remember all the tricks and plans in your head pretty much, there's no step by step instruction sheets like one paying to learn a new skill would expect.

Rob's work really is gorgeous.  Though, even if his dovetails and mortise & tenons fit perfectly, not using any glue/screws/plugs to strengthen the joints seems strange.  They're what holds the piece together when the air moisture content changes and makes the wood expand/contract.

For the most part I've just built random stuff so far, a guitar stand, bandsaw boxes, a sawhorse, wooden puzzles, etc.  I remember in the Jobs thread some other poster gave me a little advice about working in the field, but if any of you have experience in cabinet/furniture work I'd love to get more insight.

He makes boutique furniture, its several thousand dollars per piece. That desk is easily five grand.

wonder how hard it would be to mount something like this to a wall

Seems easy enough to make something similar yourself aside from routing the mounting or whatever

Yeah the desk is pretty slick, but the slip matching on the front face of that grey dresser is something else.

Nice stuff. It's a bummer that nice and timeless furniture can be quite pricey.

It really is. I would love to afford some furniture pieces but I am afraid to even get into this type of stuff as it just gets expensive. Even Pepper's lamps are up to a grand. Must be cool to know how to make all that.
