what does he do live? it's seems like with electronic music you could pretty much stand behind a laptop and play your cd with added blips and beeps...but i dunno.

i'm not sure about as recently as Drukqs,
but before that he had people dancing in the "Donkey Rhubarb" costumes
quite regularly.

and yeah, he seems to be in a bit of a rut,
but he's one of the best.
by far one of the most MUSICAL of electronic musicians.
Richard D. James is absolutely timeless to me.
on the other hand, both of the Ambient Works albums
people jerk off to so much do nothing for me.

Aphex, in a few rare serious moments in interviews,
talked about how dumb techno sold on "personality" was
and how little it had to do with music.

look and listen to "Firestarter" or "Breathe",
and then do the same with "Come To Daddy."
it's a total pisstake on their over-the-top,

His Analord series that he released as the pseudonym AFX is super good. I think there are 11 lps total in that series. I got them (downloaded) last winter and it was the only music that I listened to for like 2 months. I still think it's genius. The songs xmd5a and afx acid 04 especially.

Ha, ha - that's EXACTLY what he did. Sat behind a small laptop with headphones and proceeded to blast the audience. It worked pretty well, no-one was really dancing or anything, but it was a good night.

dj/rupture's gold teeth thief mix is one of the great mixtapes of the past 10 years, yeah.
his production is kind of crummy, though, and i'm not keen on mira calix or kid 606.

i'm more of an Oval/Microstoria dude...
