Looks like the drought is at least temporarily letting up

It seems like more and more shops are carrying less and less 8’s as people start skating bigger boards. That leads to someone like me having to get a couple at a time to hold me over and inadvertently having a mini-stack pile up. Support your local skateshop if you can

I see those Danny Brady decks on eBay all the time and man are they tempting to get. I figured it would be shit wood shit shape though based on how there’s just so many out there from random eBay stores

Decided to try 2 carbon fiber top ply decks off this thread (https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=109411.0) and they finally made it to Asia. A little shorter than I like at 8 x 31.6 x 14 with steep kicks and a medium concave. Kind of bummed it is fully dipped, I like seeing the wood grain. Want to get it tested this weekend but I don't have a lot of time to setup new boards and I hate leaving boards 1/2 skated.
The Autobahn OEM wheels were a pleasant surprise, they are very skinny with a very small riding surface, almost smaller than a V3 at 52mm.

Was gonna get the 8.5 Silva deck but took a chance and went Polar P2 Ron Chatman. Never had one of his boards (or a Polar deck) back in the day and kind of dig that shape. We shall see.

that is an awesome shape, its 8.5 near top bolts, 8.25 near the bottom ones, insanely blunt / square nose. I got a buddy who's been skating them all summer , its a fun shape for sure. I skate 8.125 normally and I could actually 360 flip on it so that was surprising.

Right on! Was wondering how it’ll flip. Stoked to get it and set it up.

I got a set to try and save the rest for homies during Xmas, getting my gift shopping done in August. They were $11 a set so why not.

The dual durometer wheels feel weird, 101a felt great on the slides but the 97a made pop feel bouncy instead of crisp. Gave them to a friend who was riding 99a and he liked them.

Did not buy this, but found it today:

I am dogsitting for my parents and found it in their garage. I remember buying it from a clearance bin like 10 or so years ago but don't remember skating it or what had happened to it. It is so ridiculous and I am for sure going to set it up as a cruiser.

Picked this Northern Co deck on Craigslist for $35, basically new with Krux trucks. Really liked the graphic so the grip is coming off and I'm saving this as a wall hanger. It came with Paradise Wheel Co wheels, Matt Rodriguez's company so that's a great addition to the skatehoarder archives.

I need to check Craigslist for gems like that. I forget the awesome graphics Norhtern Co has.

Also, I keep scrolling and seeing that too blue ply on the mason and it’s just as pretty as the graphic.

There is an Element Vallely featherlite complete with GK trucks and darkstar wheels on ebay right now if anyone wants that. Like $80 with shipping.

Couldn’t wait any longer for the 51mm 99a spitfire tablets to drop and scooped a set of 51mm Classics from SPoT. Haven’t had a set of classics in about 20 years. I’m old. Never ordered from SPoT, hope it all works out.

This is the first of my board collection which my wife has deemed worthy of being hung on the wall. I'm tempted to remove the grip it's time consuming to do.

Blowdryer & a blade and that grip will be gone within 5 minutes.

Any recommendations to remove the sticky residue left on the top ply?

Just got a pair of Thunder Lights II 148s through the post today... the deck they're going on hasn't arrived but they look nice and shiny on my desk.

Truck prices in the UK have gone through the roof in the last few weeks, Aces have gone up from £45 a pair to around £60...same thing happening stateside?

What you gonna to use?

Know what would be sick.

I'm feeling madness this morning so

Really old thunders the one that has the tear drop hangers. Sculls and swords plates. Chargers I think they was called.

I'd find some vintage bullets or slime balls in 95 or 97 or I'd use these old bones I still got from back in the day.

Do you madness? What's your plan if you don't mind?

Went inside a skateshop for the first time since early March yesterday. The board shortage does not seem to have any impact on my local shop. They had a ton of everything in stock. I bought 2 8.5 quasi boards. One is the all over black dipped guided by voices board, the other is Bobby DeKeyzers first quasi promodel. Not sure which one I'm going to set up first. I haven't skated that boxy shape in a while and I missed it. I also got a butters shirt.

Also sort of new I got one of those keen quarterpipes. It was a little quarterpipe set and it's so fun.

If I could find those Thunders (Blasters), I would do that for sure. I have been wanting to set up a cruiser where I am not going to be tempted to try and do tricks, and this kind of fits the bill. The wheelbase is like 15.5", which is pretty wild, so it is going to be purely for slashing. If I was feeling frisky I might even put a Ba.Ku. bayonet rail on it, but that idea seems gratuitous.

I am going to set it up with Ace 33s (If the USPS ever decides to deliver them, mail in Philly has been like two weeks late), 1/4" risers and might grip some slimeballs to go with it.
