Recently bought these 8.25" Venture featherlite's
[close]

what year are these from?

I would say 90s, as I have some very old used ones like that, but who knows.  In 2003+ they only had 4 hole baseplates in the shop I was in and kids used to trip on the display of old trucks with six hole baseplates asking why anyone would want them like that.

The only major brand that has carried 6 hole baseplates into the modern age is Indy in the newer and only larger sizes (159, 169, 215 and 109s) but there are still a lot out there of many brands from when 6 hole baseplates were the norm.

Pretty cool to see what looks like a brand new unused set like that though.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

This set was made between late '92 and '94.

For some reason I love 6 hole baseplates. Plus they're lighter (this is stupid but also true)

They're actually 8.25? I had no idea they made those back then.

grabbed a polar p2 since I love square kicks.

I was also very pleased to find out that the 14.5 WB on the sticker is a lie. Here's the measurement tea.

Width widest: 8.5"
width front truck: 8.5"
width back truck: 8.38"
Wheel base: 14.38
nose: 7.125"
tail: 6.5"

Heartthrobs 8.25 + t-shirt (PSA to support your friends and the cool shit they do)
55mm OJ Mini Super Juice
54mm OJ EZ Edge(want to see how they compare to F4’s)
Quantum Atoms
Santa Cruz slider rails for my bowl board
S-1 helmet and 187 elbow pads(already have kneepads) so I’m not afraid to skate the bowls. I’m older now and pads are cool too. Gotta trade back the elbow pads for the next size up though. Pro-tip: actually try them on in person instead of ordering online and going by the sizing chart
ACE shock pads
Adidas 3st.004’s

Not pictured:Polar Surf Pants

OK let's try this again.

Turned out the signed one was actually intended for the shop owner and wasn't supposed to have made its way to the store shelves where I found it. Luckily he knew who I was and got in touch with me the next day. I took it back and exchanged it for this one which is the color I wanted anyway.

Also snagged a handful of DOA flats. If anyone wants one they're available now on doa's web store. Get em while you can.

Got these things at 50% off, so I am quite happy.
Having skated only in two pair of Vans in my life (Chukka low and era pro) because I didn't have much money as a kid and in the EU they are expensive and pretty much don't go on sale for like 50%. (They're about $105-$112 brand new) I am pretty stoked on them. Now as a working adult I can afford Vans even when not on (a big) sale, but a sale is always a nice chance to try something new.

Shoes were bought online and didn't know how the shoes fit and skate so I only bought one of each for a grand total of €90 (=$106). I am the most stoked about the KWs and will probably hate myself for not getting more of those, but OTOH I don't want to hoard stuff   and don't know how they skate/will last. The Sk8 hi doesn't seem too comfortable (walked a bit in them) but maybe I they will skate  great.
I like that Vans comes with those thick insoles. I have orthotics and they fit great in there. Most of the times I have trouble with my heel slipping because  shoes were designed with thin, flat insoles in mind, so That's another pro in my eyes.

The LS was bought at my local shop which coincidentally also had a sale going on.

nice! yeah, this was like 10 years before I started messing around with wood, aluminum, and urathane but I saw it yesterday and figured I should take it home with me. it actually rolls super, super smooth, especially for a 35 year old budget complete.

not sure what I'm gonna do with it, keep in the closet, roll on it, or sell it. ???

I got a set of knee and elbow pads. The plan is (I’m 45) if I slam on one of those body parts, I put a pad on it and keep skating. I fell onto my right knee last Sunday and the fucker still hurts.
Also got a Lowcard T Shirt. I’m fat and hairy so wearing a shirt is always a very good idea.

REALLY hard to pass up a DOA flat as fuck, but I don’t need a new deck. I will regret this.

-okay I went back and got an 8.25. Fuck.

download high res images from instagram

Went buck (for me) with the 20 percent off at skate warehouse.

Birdhouse Hale 8.625
Bronson g3 bearings
Bearing cleaner
Satori 101a 54mm
Silverados.

I had swiss six in my cart but I couldn't spend that much as I already have another deck in the mail. Never thought I'd own a Birdhouse deck ever, but Shawn Hale rips and the size interested me.

Almost skipped on the board when I went to pick it up but I wanted a wide board at 32" length with a smaller wheel base than 14.5. probably gonna set up it up with my old Independents.

Ahhh, been about a year or more since I had a DOA flat. All my previous were 8.25 but this is an 8.5. Just threw this together so I could give it a ride and flip it around once or twice. I’m not sure when I’m actually gonna skate it.

Wheels were recently traded for as well.

Didn’t see any additional measurements for these, which has thankfully kept me from purchasing
