I think they're moving away from it. All the new stuff doesn't have that weird old allen kingpin. The "downlows" might.
[close]
I thought that was their thing? Lowest kingpin for smith grinds and feeble grinds.

They still use it on all of their "Downlow" trucks which is their version of a low.  The Downlow is 52mm high, roughly the same height has the Thunder 149II.  The trucks I have are their K4 standard model which are 55mm high and use the regular kingpin.

Right now they only make the Downlows up to 8"

I don't get how people like Krux, I was given a pair of the Silas/adidas truck and they didn't turn well enough at all! I mean I could skate them, but I like a quicker turn!

That might be with the Downlows which im sure don't turn as well as the taller ones that I have.  The talls have incredible turning.  A mix between tight and surfy

i won a pair of rainbow krux downlows off the krux website and they were so shitty i gave them away to some kid.
but i got another pair of krux with the regular kingpin from a thrift store (attached to some monster energy weeman promotional board) and they're really good. been rocking them for like 2 years now.

Only the downlows use the hex/dome kingpin.

Grindking anyone:

I'm really liking the 8.25 Krux - one thing is I wish I could get a lower truck in 149 that actually turns (sorry thunder, you still don't turn as carvy as I like and most bushings are a pain in the ass other than yours, which are too hard).

Doesn't one have to do with the other? I switched my regular indy baseplates to forged ones which are like 1.5mm lower and the turning was significantly less carvy.

Just got the green version. Too many key ingredients to pass it up. Todd Francis, Eagle as Pigeon, perfect shape (long tail and nose, WB a tad short for my taste but whatever... )and it came with a free fucking beer coozie, oh and that Raney kid...

Here's a partially new setup.
The hook ups 8.19, diamond hardware, spitfire classics (54mm), and reds are all new. The trucks are some old Venture highs.

I'm not sure if they ever went away but it's nice seeing hookups boards around.  I think jeremy is doing everything in house with them now

not hating... it's a neat novelty.  but i also don't understand how they can sell them, when you can just press them in with your hands.  will you actually use it?

Definitely. I can use one nice set of bearings (instead of a bunch of cheap sets) and throw them in any wheels I want. I like to skate different sizes and duros, and bearings will be easier to clean this way too. Not everyone has a use for them that's for sure but now me and my boys have the tool at our disposal.

Mag - Nice looking haul! Interested to hear how those Gonz pros skate for you. I tried them on and liked the feel. I haven't pulled the trigger tho. You're going to love the SLR. Great choice.

Thanks heritage! I've never skated a pair of SLR's before, but have only heard good things about them here on SLAP. Super stoked on just the color alone on these SLR, and impressed by the construction of the sole. Couldn't pass up on $25 each!

Pitcrew "Where I'm From" DVD
$8.12 on eBay.

For me this was like the find of the decade. Such a great video all around. Sick parts from everyone. Good editing/soundtrack.
Plus this video has the Pepe Martinez tribute part. Pepe has been my favorite skater since about 1993, so owning this video with his tribute part really means alot to me. Forever missed.

To an extent, I guess?

ACE hi and Thunder hi are super close in height if not exactly the same and ACE are by far more carvey due to the geo.
