Half cab flip appreciation.
« on: December 22, 2014, 08:40:37 AM »
are half cab flips the most underrated trick? probably not BUT when you see a proper one on flat mid line (a la Westgate for example) its the fucking best!

this one from that new dc clip is a prime example

something about that back foot on the catch just past 90' just stokes me out

I like to catch mine 90, bring it down and revert the rest. I love half cab flips, after regular kickflips and fakie flips, they are probably my most consistent flip trick. I think they sort of have a bad rep sometimes because they're lumped in with varials and sex changes as sort of a grom trick, but I've always thought they were legit. A nicely popped and caught one is one of the nicest looking tricks ever.

Also one of my favorite fllip tricks to do and see, but yes, I distinctly remember hearing more than 1 person refer to a 'no half cab flips on flat in lines' rule in the early 2000s. I never really understood the hate.

Everything has gone through it's period of hate in different places and times. I remember endless Alien Workshop hate between Timecode and Photosynthesis in Souther California. Post Photo, that was unthinkable.
