Toy Machine's graphics should climb out of the shitter.

they've been pretty bad for a while now. i'll always be hyped when i see someone skating a fists board or a monster board, but as for new graphics i feel as if they've really lost that rawer weird vibe they put out in the mid 90s early 00s. the only guys on toy nowadays that i feel actually represent the company are templeton, bennett and taylor, but i guess toy's just evolved into something else.

That is what I am wondering. Team is huge. Someone has to retire or get let go.

Harmony is my guess.

I'd guess that too. his skating is more irrelevant than ever

Ed Templeton just posted a picture of Josh and his new pro board on instagram, so you're off the mark. Billy Marks? Johnny Layton?
[close]
That^^^

Johnny will have footage in Vans, and Josh could potentially be in some montage I guess. I think Josh is a lifer a la Austin Stephens, he was one of the first riders on Ed's new gen Toy Machine.
Maybe Ed will pull a Heath and retire. He is getting up there in age, broke his leg pretty badly and has been focused on his art. I could see it happening.

It's been discussed before how Ed himself has been wanting to drop his name from the Pro ranks but there's always been a high demand for his boards (with his name being one if not the highest seller) that it'd be illogical to do so. If it helps keep Toy afloat, why not? Ed's a pretty humble guy which is rad. He knows he's not keeping up with skateboarding, skill-wise, by any means. I can't see anyone on the Toy roster not being on the team anymore.. everyone fits so well. It even feels strange not seeing Stephens and The Butcher on the line-up.

Like the "My other hat is a Dr. Seuss" board. That one was great.

I agree. They Wet Willified Turtle Boy and the Transistor character and are just cranking out as many graphics featuring those two as possible. It's just iterations of the same thing over and over with a different pros name.

Foundation seems to be coming back to life in some capacity, and with AWS and Habitat with Tum Yeto now hopefully it sparks something with Toy Machine's graphics. Healthy competition and whathaveyou.

Damn, I would be a little bummed if I was Blake or Jordan right now , they've been on for like 5 years , Jeremy was made am when Made Came out right? Not undeserved skill wise but definitely premature.

How would that be "pulling a Heath"? Ed's been over the hill for years skate-wise. He should always keep putting out pro boards IMO, but I'd say Heath had two more legit video parts left in him...Ed, not so much.

It does seem a bit premature.  However, the entire reason for going pro is that there is a demand for product with your name on it.  So they must be hearing from a lot of folks eager to buy this dude's board.

I think with Toy's graphics, whatever software ed is using he's putting textured backgrounds to his drawings which gives it a different vibe than the solid backgrounds on a lot of 90's toy graphics. It would be nice to have solid colored backgrounds and more wood grain. The YOLO selfie suicide deck and mullet dude JLay decks are pretty good. Couple gems here and there.

I like to skate fist and monster decks. Love the wood grain, classic look

Plus ed has said a couple times they don't have money to pay other artists for board series too often, but a collab with another artist or new partnership could refresh how the boards look.
