So I am probably wrong but always thought it was:

No comply- off a curb
Step hop - off your leg
Ballerina - fs or bs 180 or 360 or shuv

I think after the 90s everything got called a no comply but pretty sure Ray Barbee and others had different names for them all.
I know the rewind one was called  a 43.
That being said the trick in questions seems more like a 360 foot plant than a no comply but semantics are a pain in the ass sometimes.

the ol 43 skadoo.  anyone care to remind what the significance of the number 43 is in skateboarding? I remember there being an article in the skateboard mag around 07' or 08' that explained it having to do with the numbers relation to the alphabet and some sort of abbreviation like antihero has with 18

Technically he didn't No Comply it, but that was fucking sick. Better than that expedition part. I will never be able to unhear that song.
[close]
how is it not a no comply?  to me it seems like a backside 360 no comply.  over a fucking table.  which is crazy
[close]
Its still a no comply but if I had to guess I would assume he thought that he did it from one side to the other without touching the table.
[close]
Wouldn't it be a back 360 footplant?
[close]

Exactly what I was getting at. It's a foot plant. Technically. I'm not discrediting the trick in any way but he did not no comply that table.
But isn't a footplant where you plant your back foot on the object, not your front? Am I conflating it with a fastplant?

Fastplant is back foot. Footplant is front foot.  And when you watch it in slow mo, there is no way you can say this is a no comply.  When he pops, his front foot is still on the board, not on the table.  It looks almost like he does one if those pressure one foot b/s 360 that Ishod and that McLung dude have been doing, but he puts his front foot on the table.  Just thing about the physics of a no comply b/s 360. Do you think you can plant your foot on a picnic table and still have the right leverage to get enough pop to pull your board over the whole table?  There is no way.

where he puts his foot down is way too high up for this to be considered a no-comply. He's getting air well before he puts a foot down.

1) no comply was originally straight over a parking block with the wheel bump....it was in a trick tip in thrasher....It was described as a no handed boneless......
2) stephop is the 180 no curb version.  I asked Ray about the 43 and he said that's not what he called it....I'm going with whatever he says....

To me now though...it's all just no comply....it's a backside 360 no comply.....

Foot plant is grabbing board and foot off....ie fastplant, bean plant, boneless, sweeper etc.....

Can't believe you gif'd the no comply and not the jerk off....this is slap right?

love this guy's skating, love his thoughts on food. yeah, he smokes ciggies but he's mentioned that he recognizes the irony in this in a number of interviews. none of us are perfect and i feel he'll probably give up at some point.
great to have such a young skater out there not afraid to stand up for what he believes in though. here's hoping he gets on the animal rights trip too and starts pushing supra to do more vegan models/ colourways.

if you take the 360 out of it it's just a footplant. so where are you all getting no comply from, both of his feet are still on the board when he pops the ollie.

It's a step hop variation which to me all no complies are that don't involve a curb. Ever since Ban This I've been calling Ray Barbee shit step hops.

double negative equals a positive ergo no no comply translates to 'comply'

I thought the whole thing with a no comply is that the front foot starts on the ground and it's been that way the whole 20+ years I've been skating.  If the trick doesn't start with the front foot, I don't see how it's a no comply.  But that aside, it is sick!

IMO, the trick Spencer does, does start with the front foot. You can no comply a bench just like you can a parking block, but you have to lift your front foot higher to get it on the bench. As far as I'm concerned that's the only difference between this and a flatground/curb no comply.

The one with the flip in it is cool.

Question though: has anyone ever done a bs no comply but put the front foot on the outside like a normal one or a fs one, then bs 180 after?
