I'm actually skating those exact trucks right now and I love them. It was a bitch to find those specific 5.8 (for boards 8.25+) V-Hollow Lights though. I dont even know if they make them anymore. I bought mine on socalskateshop.com which was the only place I could even find them around a year ago and the link i have for it doesn't work anymore. You might have to dig around the web if you want those 5.8's with the hollow kingpin, baseplate AND axels, I think those p.rod trucks were the only ones they made in that size. the basic 5.8's should be a lot easier to find but Venture definitely is slacking on the bigger truck sizes. I guess they got they 7.5-8.0 board width on lock but they still need to step it up in that regard, I feel like they'd be a lot more popular if they made them more available. I actually prefer these over the new Thunder 149s. Light as hell but still have a beefier hanger and sits pretty high, especially compared to thunders.

EDIT: Found those trucks in the 5.25 size in Hi & Lo (dont know what size you're looking for)

Yup, sadly they DLX stopped making the 5.8 V-Hollow Lights.  You can get the V-lights in 5.8 but they're a little heavy for my taste.

Really hope DLX considers making them with the hollow axle again because I loved my 5.2's

The most recent venture catalog on their site lists a v-hollow light option available as 5.8hi again in polished.  Maybe they are making them again?

Sadly it's a typo.  It should be 5.2 Hi

Those were the first P-Rod trucks to come out when he first got on Venture. 3-4 years ago?

They make plenty of V-Hollow trucks still.

These are my current trucks now, (polished v-lights) 4th set in a row. Still pretty light.

You already inquired. Too bad! I'm using the v lights and hey work well for me.
I have the weights at home compared to some others and they are pretty decent.

I found it difficult to find 5.2 V-Hollow low's in any of my local shops.  I ordered them online, and they still sent just the V-lights instead which I could find anywhere, so I ended up keeping them and had them refund the price difference back to my card.  I eventually came across some in an L.A. skate shop and bought them.

Anybody know if these are lighter than Thunders hollows?

Venture V-Hollow Lights are slightly heavier (5g) than Thunder hollow lights

I still love my 5.2's.  Probably the best 8" truck that I've ever had

Sick, I have the Jack Curtin "SAMO" truck, but don't know if I will ride it. I am so used to a either a hollow baseplate and kingpin or both.

From what I've seen, Ventures are only good if you like lows. Also seen Ventures cheap kingpin snap numerous times

I would say the same if it was 1998-2003. Broke many during around that time, they made a newer kingpin change under street corner and was better than previous models.

Now under DLX, never broke one.

Haven't heard any issues with durability since DLX took over.  Skated my 8.125 setup with Venture 5.2 Hi today.  Can't say enough good things about them

the hangers on the hi's look a lot different since DLX took over as well. I skated one since 07 last year when DLX took back over- not a bad truck at all but i personally prefer thunders. the hi 5.25's look really sick with a raw hanger.

how are venture 5.8's compared to indy 149
i want my board loose but still stable like the board is moving just a tad lil bit but still easy to get centered i find indys too loose with bones med no washers.

I still haven't skated the 5.8's yet.  I was hoping they would be releasing the V-Hollow in 5.8 but it looks like I'll just have to get a pair of V-Lights

you'll fuck with ventures then. I switch from indy 149's (which were solid) to ventures and preferred them more for those same reasons. really good stability/turn control ratio for how I like to skate

Just looked at the size chart on their site and I'm pretty sure they aren't doing the 5.25's anymore. Only 5.2 and new 5.6. What axle width was 5.25?

5.25/5.2 is the same thing. It's a 8.0" axle. The only thing that's recently changed about Venture's that I'm aware of is the addition of the 5.6 to accommodate the explosion in popularity of 8.25" decks in the last few years. Indy and Thunder did the same thing with the 144 and 148 sizes respectively.

Wild that he skates em that wide. I also rarely see pros setups. Seems that most pro setups I’ve seen (internet) are just the basic cast trucks. Wonder why.

Because they get them for free.

Hollows, Forged, Titaniums, all cost more and sponsors can't give them away to everyone given how big the teams are.

I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule tho based on how currently popular you are/contest placements, etc.

I would have thought anyone skating for a truck company could get any rare metal truck they made, for free.
