why does everyone put bones bushings in their trucks
« on: June 03, 2015, 08:53:11 AM »
are they really better than stock bushings? I skate thunders and use the stock thunder bushings but it seems like everyone puts bones bushings in their trucks. whats up with this? wouldn't the stock bushings be better since they are technically designed for the truck they are in?

the best bushings are the ones that come with the trucks because they are the only ones designed specifically for that truck. there is a reason why venture's bushings differ from indy and thunder.

My friends ride pretty tight trucks and whenever they get a new set I might ride around on their boards a little. I've noticed that brand new trucks ridden tighter always suck with stock bushings. Like, they don't go back to their normal position very quickly after turning or I actually have to force them back. Maybe some better bushings would solve this problem.

Don't think it makes a difference with loose trucks though. I ride mine fairly loose and bought some bones mediums to see what the hype was about and noticed no difference.

Every set I've ever purchased has fallen apart pretty quick. I didn't over tighten them I was careful about that after I bought my first set in like 2011.

The Indy ones are perfect right when they first crack, then you have like two months til they completely fall off the truck
example. i cant cast a spelll or love potion on a girl and she falls total in love for me
but i can show a girl my tv youtube clip on my or her phone. but there's a difference ok

I've always had that problem with bones bushings. Then i started riding the genuine parts indy bushings (if that's what they're called). Those didn't need to break in either and have been holding up for over two years!

Bones bushings are 12 bucks for a set- give them a shot.
Wouldn't that be worth it to know for yourself?
Skating is all about personal preference, but every once in a while it's fun to experiment with a different setup.

I've always run into the issue of crushing bushings after over-tightening them

I bought some bones hards, but they felt too stiff, so i bought some mediums. I thought the mediums were too squishy, so i swapped the bottoms bushings out with the hards, and then tried them the other way, with hard tops and medium bottoms. I ended up crushing one of the medium bushings, so I put the hard bottoms back on with the hard tops, and they feel much better than when I first put them on. I think there is a bit of a break in period, though they advertise there is not.

Just buy some different bushings and experiment.

What kind of bushings does Daewon Song use? Those are my favorite.

Only reason I have changed bushings was cause the indy ones blew out after year or so skating

I think they don't really matter at all, as long as they don't break

if you watch a bunch of setup videos on youtube, you will notice that most pros use them. westgate uses them so maybe they help with pop?

The aftermarket Indy bushings are the best I've ever used in any trucks.  The key is finding the hardness and shape (conical or cylinder) that works for you

I just find the whole "replacing your bushings" thing a little weird. I have never, ever changed my bushings, regardless of whether or not their cracked or whatever else variable there is. Not to say that I don't think they have an effect, but sometimes I feel like bones bushing or aftermarket bushings are kind of a placebo. Maybe I was never meant to understand.

Skate tight trucks  then bushings don't matter and you get more pop.

Been riding Ace highs with medium Bones bushings for years now, always had problems with the stock Ace bushings and ever since I switched its been pure bliss.

Ace stock bushings are garbage. Hards barely tightened is perfect, found mediums mush out too quick. Get wobbles like a mofo though.
