cutting footprints

i have some footprints that are way too big, what happens if i cut inside the sewn line? will the sides fray?
also, how do you cut your footprints? i always a bit of room so theyll fit inside different shoes.

i did it a few months back. no problem so far. those things do run big....

whats the point of the stitching then? to keep the top fabric in place?

The fabric came off on mine, then the material kind of flakes away and the surface gets slick when you sweat.
Not advised, but if it starts peeling you could use a spray adhesive to keep the material on.

fuck, guess ill just sew them myself after i cut them.
